Mexican President Philipe Calderon spoke to congress. Of course he is opposed to the new Arizona immigration law. He also spoke about the need to ban high-powered weapons and that there needs to be a way to allow people to come to the United States. He said we need to allow people to come on the basis legal, orderly and secure flows of workers and visitors. Calderon’s opposition to the immigration law is based on the fact he thinks it “ignores a reality that cannot be erased by decree.”
Jim Abrahams, Associated Press writer, wrote an article titled, “Mexico’s Calderon criticizes state immigration law.” It reports, in my opinion, a typical Obama approach and relationship with foreign leaders. They are quick to put the blame on the United States and Obama usually takes their side. He is too often apologetic for the United States point in fact being his commentary on his first overseas trips indicating that we had not been “World-friendly.” This is typical of the relationships Obama drives with foreign leaders.
In this case the problems are all the United States’ fault because Arizona put up a law trying to protect their borders. Why did Arizona do this? Was it to be prejudicial? No, Arizona leads that area in drug traffic, and there have been recent killings of their citizens.
According to Calderon the problem is U.S. demand for drugs. Do you believe that? I don’t believe that. Twenty three thousand people were killed in Calderon’s country since the end of 2006 over violent drug routes. Calderon’s approach to this is “creating jobs”. Do you believe creating jobs stops drug trafficking? Do you believe that is what these people who sell drugs want? Do you think drug traffickers are just waiting for legitimate work? Apparently that is what Calderon believes and apparently what Obama believes.
Why do the people want to leave Mexico? Why does there need to be a standardized flow of people from Mexico to the Unite States? Is Mexico giving up on their own country? Why are people running across the river?
Calderon has failed in his own country to do what he should do which is to stop the drug trafficking and create a viable economy. Therefore he comes to the United States invited by Obama and they decide that Arizona has no right to defend itself and that the United States has failed on the issue of Mexican people. Calderon and Obama and for the most part the Democrats say Arizona has created laws that are wrong.
Do you think Arizona has passed this legislation to minimize Hispanics? Isn’t it possible they’re tired of the problem Mexico presents from drugs and killings and Obama’s “do-nothing” policy?
It is pretty sad when we let a foreign leader who is under incredible pressure from his own electorate for total economic failure and untamed lawlessness come and tell us how to run this country and put the blame on this country for his failure.
