The legislation that was passed in Arizona is bringing out the expected opposition. Arizona governor Jan Brewer has signed a bill that has given police the authority to deal with illegal immigration by questioning them. Of course it is not the big brouhaha over this business is that “peoples’ civil rights” are going to be hurt. I am tired. Obama has done nothing regarding illegal immigration. Instead of supporting Arizona in their attempt to stop drug smuggling he can only weakly say that the policy is “misguided.”
Paul Davenport and Jonathan J. Cooper, Associated Press writers did an article titled “Advocates Vow Challenges to Arizona Immigration Law.” Arizona has 460,000 illegal immigrants. Further they have the busiest activity with respect to drug smuggling from Mexico. Does Obama mean to tell us they do not have the right to protect their borders?
What I would like to ask Obama is what his answer would be to families across the country whose lives are affected by drug abuse? This country is affected by drug abuse. Parents who are on drugs do not take care of their children. Children who are on drugs cause trouble and often join gangs. Obama can only say the law is misguided about civil rights. This is not what Brewer has aimed at. The point is Washington has done nothing in respect to stopping illegal immigration. She ios trying to do something.
I think the term profiling is politically correct and it is time we stopped with the games. It is time we started dealing with reality instead of a fantasy world.
The fact of the matter is Arizona has a major problem. Governor Brewer took an active effective stand and the problem with Obama is a state has stepped out of line. In his actions starting with health care there is divineness between the states and the federal government to the point that some states are bringing suit.
It is of interest to me that many protesters who have come to Phoenix have come from outside the state. Further it is of interest to me that Mexico has warned that the law could affect cross-border relations. Why would Mexico be concerned about illegal immigrants? That is bizarre. Do you mean to tell me they want illegal aliens in our country? Why aren’t they doing something to stop it? Why aren’t they protecting our country against drugs?
So the way things stand is that Arizona has taken an action that Mexico doesn’t like and neither does Obama. I do not understand why Mexico should have anything to say about allowing people into Arizona.
Like I said, the entire reaction is bizarre and brings, to me at least, a lot of uneasiness.
