Movie star and two-time Oscar winner Meryl Streep (61) is finalizing talks with film producers to appear as former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher in the upcoming motion picture, The Iron Lady.
The Iron Lady, with a script by Abi Morgan, will be directed by Phyllida Lloyd. Great Britain’s Phyllida Lloyd previously directed actress Meryl Streep in Mamma Mia! in 2008. The Iron Lady will be produced by Damian Jones and co-financed by Pathe and Film 4.
Actor Jim Broadbent is expected to play Denis Thatcher, husband of famous British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher.
The Iron Lady is expected to focus on Margaret Thatcher’s tenure as British Prime Minister, zooming in specifically her role in the Falklands War in the early 1980s.
A cinematic release date for The Iron Lady has not yet been announced.
