Ideas for Memorial Day Party Decorations
Your best bet is to decorate your Memorial Day part in colors of red, white and blue. Get a solid red, white or blue tablecloth for your table, or find a tablecloth that looks like an American Flag. Also decorate your Memorial Day party with red, white and blue balloons, tissue paper streamers, paper plates, plastic flatware and napkins. Create a simple patriotic floral arrangement by dying some freshly cut white carnations red and blue using about 20 to 30 drops of food coloring mixed into a cup of water. Save a few carnations to leave white. When the colored flowers have rested in the water and dye for about 24 hours, remove them from the colored water. Place the red, white and blue flowers in a vase.
Ideas for Memorial Day Party Games
By Memorial Day the weather should be warming up, so this is the perfect time to have some fun and active outdoor games. If it’s hot outside, have everyone put on their bathing suits, set out the sprinklers and let everyone run through them and get wet. You could also host a water balloon toss game. Have the players stand in two rows and toss the water balloons across to each other. Each team gets five full water balloons. Try to catch them without breaking them. When a water balloon breaks, the player that caught it is out of the game. The team with the most players at the end wins a small prize. You could also play a game of squirt tag. Fill some squirt guns up with water. Try to shoot the other players. Each player that gets shot with the water pistol is out of the game. The last player remaining at the end is the winner.
If it’s rainy outside, you could play some indoor games. Play a patriotic game of Memorial Day bingo. Make a “Pin the Hat on Uncle Sam” game. Play a game of charades, Pictionary or Trivial Pursuit that focuses around the states of the USA, its historical wars or armed forces.
