Mel Gibson plans to formally accuse Oksana Grigorieva, the mother of his baby daughter Lucia, of extortion, according to People Magazine. A source close to Gibson said the Oscar-winning filmmaker will provide police with evidence that his estranged baby mama threatened to leak the recordings now appearing on the Web site Radar Online if he didn’t pay her off.
The recordings have seriously damaged Gibson’s career. After the latest round of excerpts were posted on the Web site Radar Online, including an audio excerpt in which an angry Gibson drops the “N-bomb,” his talent agency William Morris Endeavor dropped him as a client.
Gibson, who has claimed that Grigorieva’s charges that he physically assaulted her are fabricated, will also accuse her of making false claims to the police, which is also a crime. One of Grigorieva’s charges apparently is that Gibson threatened her with a firearm.
The People Magazine report comes in the wake of the announcement by the Los Angeles Country Sheriff’s Department that it has launched an official investigation into Grigorieva’s charges of domestic violence.
People Magazine earlier ran a denial by Gibson that he had physically assaulted his ex-girl friend. Gibson has admitted that he got physical with Grigorieva, but did so to stop her from shaking the baby Lucia in a January 2010 meeting between the two. The Moscow, Russia-born musician, who earlier had a child by Timothy “James Bond” Dalton, claims that Gibson punched her twice in the face, breaking her nose, knocking out a tooth, and giving her a concussion.

Mel Gibson’s denials of physically assaulting Oksana Grigorieva seemingly are contradicted by the latest publication of transcripts from the secret recordings she has leaked to the Web site. In the most recent round of exposure, Radar Online posted an audio excerpt from one of the recordings in which Mel uses the N-word to refer to African Americans, whom he characterizes as potential rapists.
Radar Online also has published transcriptions from other recordings revealing that Gibson’s racism, which already encompasses African American and Jews, extends to Hispanics. In one of the secret recordings, Gibson called one of his staffers a “wetback,” a derogatory term for Mexican-Americans and Mexican immigrants. (The slur refers to their having allegedly swam across the Rio Grande River into Texas.)
He tells Grigorieva that he will turn the employee over to human traffickers, which may be construed as a threat on the woman’s life.
Even more explosive than the latest racist rant is Mel Gibson’s admission that he physically assaulted Oksana Grigorieva as she held their two-month-old daughter in her arms. Grigorieva is heard on the tape asking what kind of man could hit a woman when she was holding a baby.
“You know what?” Mel tells Oksana. “You f—ing deserved it.”
Other news reports have detailed Grigorieva’s claims that Gibson has threatened her life. Apparently, Mel has said he plans to burn down the Sherman Oaks house she and the baby live in and also has threatened to bury her in his rose garden.
