Aunts and Uncles are often part of our favorite childhood memories. In Kapoorvilla the children have an aunt who has made a definite impression and will always be remembered for her obsession with butterflies. You can read her own explanation of why here.
This aunty is such fun for the kids as she putters and flutters about spreading her infectious joy where ever she might hover. A wonderful caring, creative and crafty aunt who tells princess stories and butterfly tales. Each child can expect a rendition of her famous anthem during times of trouble or times of joy she is sure to hover about with bits of encouragement and cheer. The children will always hold her dear and keep her near to their hearts hearing in their memories her singing:
“Butterflies flutter up and kiss your little buttercup in the morning…….”
They will always remember her signature statement, “Butterfly hugs and Ladybug kisses to you!!!” or see it written B.H.L.K. on cards and notes.
The elder son, Sir Pablo, will always remember chocolate chip pancakes at his aunt’s house on a Saturday morning. While, Miss Maya always look for a Christmas tin of peppermint fudge that never fails to bring a squeal of delight. Miss Maya got a very special treat as her birthday just past and her Aunty sent over peppermint fudge in the shape of a butterfly!
Her love for her nieces and nephews are amazing but nothing can quite measure up to the magnificent care she gives to one little special child in Kapoorvilla. Her own special little blessing from God who needs an extraordinary amount of care due to the challenges he faces in everyday life. Read all about this special blessing here.
We sometimes laugh at her butterfly zaniness and princess stories. The memories of her famous butterfly outfits consisting of butterfly hairclips and colorful pattern dresses complete with wing flaps that fluttered when she lifts her arms can bring a smile to our face on the worst day. We are all guilty of gobbling up her treats without a thought to the time she spends making them, even though time is something she never has enough of with caring for her special blessing. What a wonderful legacy Aunt Sandra is leaving behind for the future generations of Kapoorvilla. Reflection of what we will be remembered for is a sobering thought. Sandra’s legacy will be that she was funny and different than most yes, but what the children will remember most is how much joy she spread to others even when her own burdens where so very, very heavy.
A specail add on note: Today while I worked Sandra call to say she had prepared dinner to send over to my house. With no prior knowledge of this article she decide because I was working longer than usual hours to allow my huband to spend time with his parents who are visiting from India she would help me out by sending over supper, as if she had nothing else to do! Proving once again that she knows how to spread JOY by putting Jesus first, then Others before Yourself!
