What is a Christian marriage?
Marriage was designed to be a sacred relationship! “In the beginning God created marriage” consisting of one man and one woman! He made Adam from the dust of the ground and then decided that Adam needed a partner. “It is not good for man to be alone…” Genesis 2. God put Adam in a deep sleep and while sleeping He performed the first surgery, removing his rib bone. From this in His own miraculous way He then fashioned a woman, from Adam’s flesh and bones! Adam later named her Eve. Although now two they were one! From the two of them the rest of mankind came forth.
It is good to know from whence we come from and how it all got started. There are many erroneous concepts and theories as to how it all has come about? ( See Genesis 1-3 for complete story) The Bible is clear and has stood the test of time! From the beginning Adam spent time with God, His Creator. No doubt he was intelligent Adam himself named all the animals. God gave him dominion over all He created! Living in The Garden of Eden was a bed of ease, a magnificent self watered, weedless, thornless paradise! However at some point Adam decided to go against what he knew to be right and was deceived. He listened to what was created rather than to His Creator! Adam and Eve decided to do their own thing and all chaos, mayhem and pandemonium entered the world. They then had to leave their beautiful paradise! This is what has continued to happen down through subsequent generations. This is also why Jesus Christ came!
Jesus Christ came in the flesh to restore us! To give us the opportunity to once again to live our lives to please God! For His will and way to be our first priority! To remove the enmity that stood between us and God! He fulfilled the requirements by becoming the ultimate sacrificial “Lamb of God” He alone was perfectly sinless. He overcame sin in the flesh for the world! He died for the world! “For He has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son He loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sin. Colossians 1. We can call on Him as Savior and Lord to help us! We then can repent and His forgiveness is granted! His Holy Spirit abides within us and is our internal, eternal teacher to bring us to all Truth! God does not sanction sin. Sin is anything that separates us from God. It is through His Holy Spirit we can spiritually grow! As we grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, implement and embrace His principles we are shaped and molded in His image!
His Holy Spirit is a precious gift! Jesus Christ “suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified died and was buried. On the third day He arose from the dead and ascended into heaven…” When He rose to heaven this is when He left us His Holy Spirit! This is what the Word teaches us about Jesus! “He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For by Him all things were created: things in heaven and earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities, all things were created by Him and for Him. He is before all things and in Him all things hold together. And He is the HEAD of the body the CHURCH…” Colossians 1. Take some time and ponder on this powerful scripture! God truly is Awesome!
God knows what is best for us He is Sovereign! He could have but He did not make us robots. He allows us the freedom to choose! One must be aware of what happens when we choose to go against what He has said! Chaos! God is not only our Creator He is the Sustainer and giver of life. EVERYTHING is held together by Him! Through Jesus Christ we are or can be reconciled to Him! There is much spiritual warfare to change God’s plan for marriage and the family!
God designed marriage and now in this 21st century man has decided to again do whatever he feels is right. God’s design for marriage is increasingly becoming an alternative? Saying you have a committed heterosexual marriage sounds strange to many? We are becoming a growing minority! Many Christians as well as non believers are being seduced into committing adultery, having affairs galore, divorcing over and over and abandoning healthy Christian relational boundaries. The children suffer the most… There is much spiritual warfare to negate the Christian marriage! Pandora’s box has been opened and its lid has been lost! So now an unconventional hybrid man made marriage is being widely accepted. The difference is it cannot produce after its own kind! Marriage was never designed to be based on one’s sexual preference! It goes so much deeper. The human body has been designed in a marvelous phenomenal extraordinary way that a man and woman joined together fit perfectly! So once again the two can become the “one” God created in His image!
Within a marriage healthy sexual intercourse takes place and bonding takes place! God sanctions sex within the confines of marriage. Be careful who you join your self to! Now anything goes? But is this the Christian way? Where is the model of Christian marriage derived originally? From the Bible is it not? God is totally aware when this is or is not the case! Is it more important what man thinks or what God knows? Today, again man continues to pervert and now voraciously promotes an unconventional hybrid marriage between same sexes! Deciding again to do his own thing. Wrap this around your brain for size if you can? Despite what Truth God has to say; one is expected to ignore the Word ? “Then the Lord God made a woman from the rib He had taken out of the man, and He brought her to man. The man said, “This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh she shall be called ‘woman, for she was taken out of man.” For this reason a man will leave father and mother and be united to his wife, and they shall become one flesh. The man and his wife were both naked, and they felt no shame…” Genesis 2. God is love! Marriage was a beautiful God given gift to Adam and Eve and to us as well!
Now many want to do their own thing to the degree they even want to alter or suppress what God has to say about marriage in the Word! So much so they want to redefine marriage to fit their own description. To change laws and make it equal to civil rights which is quite disturbing! It is not the same! If you like, go on and have your “cup of tea!” But, please why not call it what it is? “A rose is a rose , is a rose!” But when it is a hybrid it says so! It is then considered man made! So now in this 21st century why can’t we say hybrid relationships and let Christian marriage be! God created it and that settles it! Even in this ever changing contemporary society God’s Word is the same “Heaven and earth will pass away but my Words will never pass away…”Matthew 24. There is something so much deeper than we in our little finite minds will ever understand that takes place when a man and woman come together. God gives us the freedom to choose. You can do whatever you want, whenever you want, with whomever you want, but there are spiritual consequences… But please just don’t expect God to sanction it. “A rose, is a rose, is a rose…”
