The bar for celebrities has been set high. We expect musicians and actors to be at their attractive best, and usually they don’t disappoint. And since the paparazzi keeps them on constant display, sometimes we even give them a pass when they are caught off-guard. However, there are some famous celebrity men who need to take a closer look in the mirror and realize that it’s time for a makeover!
Donald Trump Celebrity Makeover: Lose the Fluffy Hair!
As a business magnate and television celebrity, Donald Trump faces the television cameras and press often. He’s not a bad-looking guy for his age, and he’s usually decked out in expensive suits and looking rather dapper, but for me, the focus always shifts to his hair. It looks like the part starts right above his left ear now, and becomes a cotton candy-like wave of fluff across his forehead. I’m not sure if he is balding and this is a styled comb-over, or if it is just a wierd cut, but either way, it’s not good. Donald, get rid of that look, now! You are a powerful guy, and the ladies wouldn’t care even if you are balding! If you aren’t losing your hair, get a new stylist!
Nick Nolte Celebrity Makeover: Rich Man or Poor Man?
Can you believe that Nick Nolte was a model in the late 1960’s and early 1970’s? His rugged look was a real turn-on for the ladies back then, as they drooled over a magazine advertisement in 1972 where he posed in jeans and an open shirt. Over the ensuing years, he became a respected actor in the television series Rick Man, Poor Man, and movies like The Deep and North Dallas Forty. Since that time, however, his “look” has become very inconsistant, and it is obvious that he sometimes forgets that he still needs to shine in front of the camera! I have to admit I have seen a few pictures of Nick where his white hair and beard are trimmed nicely and he looks attractive for a guy in his mid-sixties, but he should be reminded that grooming is an every day event! Nick, please, vow to stop sneaking out to the corner Starbucks dressed in clothes you slept in last night, with that unshaven, wild morning hair look quite as often as you have in the past. Okay?
Mickey Rourke Celebrity Makeover: Still Looking for a Fight?
Rourke’s look in the past has always matched up with his rather controversial bad-boy image, but of late, his look is getting closer to homeless kitsch or prison pimp. It looks as though he has fallen into some sort of disgust with using a comb and razor, and just can’t find time for the barbershop (or maybe he thinks that greasy-looking side-swept hair hanging in his eyes is sexy?) Is it possible that Mickey is hiding behind a veil of hair due to the damage his face suffered during his return to boxing in the Nineties? Or does he think he really is Whiplash from Iron Man 2? Whatever is causing him to sport his disgusting look, running into him in a dark alley would cause me to scream and run, rather than ask for an autograph. Mickey, your face is okay. Ditch the angry cover-up.
Ty Pennington Celebrity Makeover: Buzz Saw the Trading Spaces Look!
Since his days as that sexy handyman from Trading Spaces with the crazy hair, Ty has emerged as a well-known celebrity with his own show, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. Before Trading Spaces, Ty was a model and appeared in advertising spots with Diet Coke and Levi’s. I’m guessing that Ty is hanging onto his goofy, spiked hair and casual, unkempt construction worker look because it has gotten him where he is today. But, in this woman’s opinion, I think he is way overdue for a new look. Ty, I don’t want you to lose your edge, but please class up a few notches!
Jorge Garcia Celebrity Makeover: Lose the Island Look!
Jorge seems like a genuinely nice guy and we all accepted his long locks as Hurley on the set of LOST. But now that the show has aired it finale and the secrets of the island have been revealed (or were they?), it is now time for Jorge to make a donation to Locks of Love! Jorge, with a shorter haircut, who knows, you might become our favorite funny, heavyset, Cuban, romantic comedy heartthrob!
Antonio Banderas Makeover: Whatzup with the Little Orphan Annie Look?
Antonio Banderas is probably one of the sexiest Spanish born actors on this planet, but what’s up with his curly mop of hair these days? I just watched My Mom’s New Boyfriend this weekend (co-starring Meg Ryan) and I was a melted pool of woman watching him the entire movie! I want that sexy, shiny, slicked back Zorro look again, Antonio! I’m okay with the beard you had in Imagining Argentina, or the rugged CIA agent ponytail in Once Upon a Time in Mexico, but not this Little Orphan Annie thing. Please, loosen up or cut those curls!
Ronnie Dunn Makeover: Lose the Bouffant Do!
Ronnie is the Dunn in Brooks and Dunn, the award winning country singing duo. Recently Brooks and Dunn announced that they are splitting up and going their separate ways in the music scene. Ronnie has been an easily identifiable voice on the radio, and just as recognizable due to his unusual haircut. Over the years, he has kept his facial hair trimmed closely, but the hair on top of his head has transformed to eventually become more akin to a fountain that spills over his scalp, bouffant style. Ronnie, since you are making a change with your music career, please ask a stylist for a new look that resembles hair!
Willie Nelson Makeover: No More Bandanas and Waist-length Hair Onstage!
While Willie finally cut his hair recently, he still has a ways to go. He has carried his country-rock star status and rowdy look to extremes most of the time, sporting a long braid and some sort of bandana wrapped around his head way too often. But age has a way of morphing an iconic performer into looking more like an unkempt old man without a few changes. Willie, keep your county cool, but get rid of your Geronimo and Easy Rider look! I prefer your short ponytail, black T-shirt and trimmed beard best!
Steve Nash Makeover: Dunk the Long, Stringy Hair!
Steve Nash is one of the Phoenix Suns’ Superstars, and is a two-time NBA MVP. He is a Canadian citizen and part owner of the MLS team in Vancouver that starts up next year. If you have watched him play, you cannot deny that Nash is like the Energizer Bunny on the basketball court. But you have probably also noticed the sweat dripping from his stringy hair ten minutes into each game. Every game, I wonder why he does not cut his hair shorter. There is nothing about his haircut that makes sense, from style when dry, to impracticality when he plays basketball. Nash was recently hired by CBS Sports to report on the World Cup in South Africa. Steve, maybe now that you’ll be sitting still in front of a camera, you’ll see the need to agree to a makeover?
Celebrity men might be a lot like husbands, in that they think once they’ve scored, they can let themselves go. But these famous guys earn too much money to feel entitled to wear holey sweats in public, skip the morning shower or barber shop, or not stay in style. Keep up, or get a makeover, guys, because we ladies like looking at you! Fame is no excuse!
