Making History 2: War of the World is not made by a large publisher but has proven that small publishers can make great games. Making History 2: War of the World is just one of the latest games to come from nowhere and have a cult following. Making History 2: War of the World could be making history by changing the rules of video game development and allowing the little guy to get in on the game.
Making History 2: War of the World is a strategy game but not just any strategy game, it is what is called grand strategy game. Making History 2: War of the World is like a update of all those old strategy board games that used to be popular. Making History 2: War of the World is grand in scope covering all countries during World War II. Making History 2: War of the World does not do anything new it is an old formula but it puts the old strategy game and puts it on a larger level.
Being from a small publisher called Muzzy Lane Making History 2: War of the World does not feature great graphics they are not bad but not great. The graphics are similar to Civilization IV at their best. The sound is not great which is what you would expect for a strategy game be prepared for the same monotonous background noise.
What really makes Making History 2: War of the World stand out is the vast scope. Making History 2: War of the World lets you choose any country and gives you a lot of things to do. You can customize cities, plan strategy, and much more. With all the options you have a complex game. Winning may not be the only goal of the game if you wish to play as a small country just becoming a regional power may be a goal, or helping the allies or axis may be a goal. This is not a simple Axis vs Allies game. This is not even a simple good guy bad guy two sided fight.
While much of the game play is standard and unoriginal which keeps it easy to play the vast size and scope of the game requires you to learn a lot to be able to play so not bringing anything new is actually a good thing. Because of the options available to you there is a good chance you will play Making History 2: War of the World a lot. Obviously you will want to try your hand at being a member of the Allies and the Axis to get a feel for each force you will likely want to play all of the Allied and Axis forces. Besides the standard Allied and Axis forces you will probably want to play at least one country in each region as well.
I am a fan of strategy games so I enjoy Making History 2: War of the World. While the graphics and sound are not great even for strategy games I still would recommend this game to all strategy game players. I would not however suggest this game to other gamers. Even if you think you might like to get into strategy games because of the complexity and scope I would suggest you try another strategy game first.
