Love: It does the worst things to us. Then again, it makes us feel like we have the whole world under our toes. Once it affects one person, it affects everyone else around them. My eyes and ears have been opened by my own experiences, as well as others around me. This feeling may be a burden or a blessing.
The burden may cause us to think about the one we love so much, that we forget to think about the others who love us and care for us as well. Our minds are preoccupied with the thought of this one person only. This person is always emblazoned in the mind, that most things we do in our lives begin to falter… and our fingers begin to fumble and lose grasp on other important things. We can’t think or function right. Sometimes we can’t even eat or sleep. It makes us unhealthy. At times, we may even hurt others around us by saying how much this person means the world to you… more than anything or anyone in the world… it makes the others feel insuperior, but they still stand by you. We say things without thinking, and then we think too much and not say it at all. You then begin to feel your life force depends on this one person; that you can no longer live without him or her in your life. Then, you begin to think you are alone. When the truth is, you are not alone. That person isn’t the only person in your life. No one is ever truly alone. The biggest fear becomes a growing reality; losing the person you love. Whether it be into the arms of another, or the arms of an angel.
However, it doesn’t end there. After losing this person, the love just doesn’t disappear as if it was never there at all. It lingers; it makes us suffer. We think about regrets. We think about things we should have done to make them stay, or thing we shouldn’t have done. It hurts so much, to the point where we could swear we are dying over and over again, as we watch the one we lost love another, or fade into the farthest part of our souls and mind.
Nevertheless, this feeling of love is a blessing as well. We begin to notice our smiles are brighter. Everything seems to make sense in the world. And others realize how happy we have gotten within days, or even weeks. You begin to believe there is always someone out there to catch you when you fall, or make your dreams come true; Someone who will always be there beside you in good times and in bad times. Loneliness seems far off and distant from your life the more time you spend with this one person. You discover new talents, like writing. Everything you feel inside you begins to dance from your pencil tip to paper. May it be a little note to him or her expressing your love, or a page of poetry. You feel safer in his or her arms, and you believe that there is nothing or no one that can stand between you both. Everything seems to suspend in time; the clock… the rain drops… the glittering dust under the sun’s rays. Happiness seems to linger in your eyes and on your lips.
Why does this happen to us? When we are told life wasn’t going to be easy, we thought that it would be easier once we find love. Though, the truth of the matter is… it isn’t. We have to work to keep love strong. It is like a rose; It needs care. It needs to grow, and it needs to blossom into something so beautiful.
