What would people do if they couldn’t use their bathrooms? That’s the question many people ask themselves when they are having remodeling done on their bathroom. How do you live in a house where the bathroom is unusable for a period of time? That is why you need to know how to live in a home when the bathroom is being remodeled.
Tips on living in a house where the bathroom is being remodeled:
Toilet- This will be one of the most difficult parts of the bathroom remodeling process. There is a good chance that you may not be able to use the toilet. There are other options though. The most obvious one is if you have a second toilet to use. If you don’t have a second bathroom, you can purchase a portable toilet meant for taking to camp grounds with you or one that is made for medical reasons. This isn’t the most appealing things that you can do, but it will solve your temporary problem.
Bathtub- If you want to stay clean while your bathroom is being remodeled, you will need to have an alternative plan to using the bathtub. There are several ways this can be done. For little children, a bath in the kitchen sink will usually work just fine. A second bathroom in the home can also do the trick as long as the water isn’t shut off. If you belong to a local gym such as the YMCA, you may be able to use their showers for the temporary issue with the bathroom being under construction. If worse comes to worse, truck stops have shower units that you can rent. That is normally reserved for truck drivers, but anyone can rent them. You will just have to wait in line.
Brushing Teeth- You probably can’t imagine not being able to brush your teeth. You don’t really have too much to worry about when your bathroom is in the middle of a remodel. You just have to find the nearest other sink to brush your teeth. The kitchen should serve well to allow you to brush your teeth in the morning, afternoon or when you go to bed at night.
Mirror- We look in the mirror in the bathroom more than we do in any other room in the house. We check our teeth in the mirror, brush our hair in the mirror and do our makeup there as well. You will soon find out exactly how much you truly use your bathroom mirror when you aren’t able to access it during renovations. Purchase a small mirror that you can hang up in your bedroom or other room of the house so you can take care of all those little things that you do in the bathroom mirror every day. It might take some getting used to going to a different room to do it, but it won’t be as bad as you think.
These are just a few tips on how to continue living in your home during bathroom remodeling. Bathroom remodeling will make things a bit harder on you when you are having them done, but you will be very pleased with the final results and the discomforts you had to endure in the process.
