Lindsay Lohan missed her trial hearing and had bail set for her arrest this morning. The judge did not seem pleased that Lohan was a no-show in her trial and gave both the prosecution and the defense a lecture about what has taken place. Her lawyer tried to make excuses for her about being an hour and a half late last time because of her celebrity, and the judge was just not buying any of it. The reason Lohan claims that she couldn’t be at her hearing this morning was because her passport was stolen while in France, and that is where she still is at this time. Why was she in France? She went to Cannes to attend several parties that she associated with work.
The whole reason for this hearing was to find out her progress on alcohol education classes and whether she was sticking to the rules of her probation for DUI arrests before this point. She had been required to attend at least one alcohol education class every week for 13 weeks, and there are a lot of questions as to whether she actually attended all those classes. The judge, right before she came down with her decision on what the bail should be, basically stated that she was sending a message about the seriousness of missing her trial. Judge Marsha Revel set a bail of $100,000.
What does all of this mean for Lindsay Lohan? It’s certainly not good news at all, and it seemed that the judge was upset that Lohan couldn’t find her way to court with so much lead time given to her on when the hearing would be. Lohan has known for quite some time that she was required to be in court on the morning of May 20th, and going to the Cannes Film Festival just doesn’t seem like an excuse that the judge was going to allow from someone that has been arrested this often. It also sounds like Lindsay Lohan could be facing some very serious jail time if she didn’t adhere to the court mandated requirements of at least one class every week. According to TMZ, she did not do that, and that could become an area of contention in the court at a later date.
There were several stipulations attached to Lohan if she is able to post bail once she is back in the country, and that includes no drinking until her next formal hearing, she much wear an alcohol monitoring device, and she will have to undergo random drug testing at least once a month. Maybe this judge will finally show Miss Lohan how serious the growing list of charges on her record is becoming.
