Lindsay Lohan is facing serious jail time if she doesn’t show up in court tomorrow. A jail sentence could be in Lindsay Lohan’s future as she is required to be in court on Thursday, May 20th to answer to a judge. One major hitch in that plan is that Lohan has been partying it up in France for the Cannes Film Festival. Reportedly, her plan was to fly back to the United States today (Wednesday) in order to attend another alcohol education class and then report to the courts tomorrow. At least that is the story that she and her handlers have been telling media outlets, but the plot changed a bit today when another volcanic cloud starting grounding flights in Europe.
The claim from Lindsay Lohan right now is that her passport was stolen, and though she had already booked a flight back to the United States, she won’t be able to make it by her Thursday morning court hearing. The excuses sure are starting to mount, and it means that she (again) won’t be showing up for something required by the court. TMZ is reporting that she has schedule a morning meeting at the U.S. Embassy to get another passport to fly home. The court hearing is scheduled for 8:30 a.m., so by the time she gets back, she may have a warrant out for her arrest because of her failure to show up at court again. This wouldn’t be the first time as she missed two full depositions and showed up late to a third in relation to this case.
So why is it that Lindsay Lohan is required to be in court tomorrow? Well this is a hearing to talk about her probation, and find out if she adhered to the rules and stipulations set forward by the judge in the case. This stems from one of her DUI cases, where she was forced to undergo alcohol education classes over a three month span of time. All she had to do was attend one class per week, and she only made it to 10 of them. It’s a clear violation of her probation, and coupling that with her constant late-night partying that has been all over the tabloids on nights before those classes, she doesn’t really have much of an excuse. So if Lohan can’t make it to her trial, should the judge rule against her? It has already been stated that a warrant will be issued for her arrest if she doesn’t show up to court. Now we will see if the courts will really hold her to her probation agreement, or if Lohan being a celebrity will get her special treatment for failing to meet her probation as well as missing her court dates.
Will the excuse of a lost passport be acceptable to the courts? Have we all heard enough excuses about why Lindsay Lohan can’t follow the law or court mandates? The clock is ticking on Lohan’s freedom now.
