Imagine that! Lindsay Lohan failed to make it back to the United States from Cannes for her court date. As a result, the judge issued a bench warrant for Lindsay Lohan’s arrest when she did make it back to the United States. She would also face a $100,000 bond, plus other conditions, but her bond has already been posted by a representative for Lindsay Lohan, according to cnn.com, so this means no arrest at the airport. So, what’s next?
Lindsay Lohan will have to wear an alcohol-monitoring bracelet, and she will also have to submit to random drug testing until she goes through her probation violation hearing, according to cnn.com. This is, indeed, good news for Lindsay Lohan because it will help keep her on the up and up in regards to substance abuse. Even so, this is better news for all who come in contact with Lindsay Lohan because she will be more herself without substances in her body.
Will Lindsay Lohan have to face jail time over her probation violation? Some may be hoping for it, but Lindsay’s father, Michael Lohan certainly isn’t. According to cnn.com, Michael Lohan submitted a letter to the judge, asking that Lindsay Lohan receive mandatory rehabilitation, rather than jail? Does rehabilitation work? It may for some people, but how many times has Lindsay Lohan been in rehabilitation?
The former question really doesn’t matter because rehabilitation doesn’t seem to work for Lindsay Lohan. So, why is it that Lindsay Lohan has not spent a significant time in jail for her violations/convictions? Paris Hilton spent at least some time in jail, so why hasn’t Lindsay Lohan? Surely, she does not believe that she’s above the law, or does she? Even worse, has she actually been above the law, so far?
If Lindsay Lohan has been above the law, so far, it’s time to take corrective action with this situation and hold Lindsay Lohan to the same standards as any other substance abuse offender. It’s a really nice thought that Michael Lohan wants his daughter to go to rehabilitation, rather than jail. Likely, many parents of substance abusers would choose rehabilitation over jail for their children, but many do not get the opportunity to choose.
Let’s face it. Someone needs to make Lindsay face up to her problems by making her take responsibility for her troubles, rather than blame her troubles on other people (like, someone stole my passport). Lindsay Lohan is a grown woman, and if she needs to suffer some serious jail time to learn how to be a responsible woman, why not put her there? She must face the music just like other substance abusers.
If Lindsay Lohan can continue to slip out of trouble as easily as she has been able to do, so far, she will likely continue the same behavior because nobody is really holding her seriously accountable. The bad thing about this is that she could end up hurting herself, or even worse, hurting someone else. So, how about it Lindsay Lohan? Are you ready to become a responsible woman?
