Leslie Van Houten, after being denied parole for the 19th time, will not be up again for parole for three years
Back in 1969, Charles Manson, Susan Atkins, Tex Watson, Steve Grogan, Patricia Krenwinkel, Linda Kasabian and Leslie Van Houten went to Leno and Rosemary LaBianca’s home. Leno and Rosemary were captured and tied up by Manson and Watson. Under the orders of Manson, Patricia Krenwinkel, Tex Watson and Leslie Van Houten murdered the couple. It was one of the most vicious crimes of the decade. Five members of the Manson family were sentenced to death for those murders and for the murders that took place at the home of Sharon Tate. Later their punishment was commuted to life in prison.
Leslie Van Houten now is a woman who has been denied parole every time she has requested it, and that’s just fine with many people who are familiar with the crimes
If you were alive back in 1969, chances are you’re familiar with the Manson murders. They were a shocking display of brutality that, even today, is considered incredibly heinous. If you weren’t around in 1969, just read Helter Skelter. Bugliosi’s story of the Manson family, the crimes they committed and the trial that followed is so well written and so vividly explained that his depiction is bound to leave you frightened and not able to sleep. The thought of a group of people coming into your house at night, capturing you and killing you is one of the scariest thoughts of them all. That’s the type of crime that Leslie Van Houten was involved in. So, many are not shedding any tears that she must remain behind bars.
Don’t let Van Houten out until she works on her issues with men?
A model prisoner is what Leslie Van Houten is now, but that doesn’t matter to Debra Tate, Sharon Tate’s sister. Debra has made it her mission to make sure that members of the Manson family stay behind bars for the rest of their lives. Tate collected 60 letters requesting that Van Houten remain in prison.
And according to the parole board chairman, Robert Doyle, one of the reasons Van Houten should not be released is because the Leslie Van Houten now still has issues with dominant men. Charles Manson operated a mind control cult comprised primarily of women. These women were easily influenced and controlled by Manson, including Leslie Van Houten. So controlling was Manson that Van Houten did the worst thing anyone can do, and that’s murder. Now she’s paying the price. According to Doyle, let Van Houten out and she could still fall under the control of another dominant and dangerous man. As Debra Tate said,”Is a tiger dangerous if it gets out of its cage? We proved that at the L.A. zoo. In the cage they are fine. You cannot let them out.”
