June 16th World Cup Group Play Preview

by itchyfish

June 16th should tell us a lot about the teams that are playing that we have not seen yet. While no really exciting matches are planned these matches will tell us a lot about what we should expect in the future for the World Cup. The games that are to be held on June 16th for Group play in the World Cup are Honduras and Chile, Spain and Switzerland, and South Africa and Uruguay. At the end of the day we will have finally seen all teams play at least once in group play and have a better idea of what to expect this World Cup during group play.

Honduras Vs Chile

This game should be the more exciting of the games today. Both teams are Hispanic soccer loving nations. They are both in a tough group. If you asked me I would say the only one in the group that might have a strong chance to take the top spot in the group would be Spain but the rest of the groups have a chance for the top and certainly a chance for that second spot. Depending how well the winner does in this game we will have a better idea of who is coming out of group play.

Spain vs Switzerland

Spain could become a new soccer powerhouse with a few great players like Torres. Spain should win this but if they can not then Switzerland has a good chance at taking this group. Depending on how well Switzerland can do in this game we will know if they have a chance to get out of group play. A huge loss will mean they are probably going home but even a close lose will not mean an end for the Swiss. With many good teams not looking as great any more Spain could have a chance to become a good few years as a soccer powerhouse and this game will let us see this young but talented team and if they have what it takes to beat teams like Italy with only a few old veterans and a bad defense, or Brazil without so many big names stars.

Uruguay vs South Africa

This game should be interesting since both teams have tied already. This should give us a better idea of how Group A will go. Uruguay I would normally expect to win being a soccer loving nation and from high altitudes who will have an easy time running around all day. South Africa’s only advantage is that they are the home team. I would not give South Africa any chance to win this except being the home team could give them the chance to actually win this game, a tie would even be good for South Africa and if I were South Africa that is what I would realistically be hoping for.

June 16th well let us finally see all teams and how they play. We should have a much better idea of what to expect in Group A as well. We might see the emergence of one team as top soccer team.
