Happy July 10th!
July 10th is a special holiday. In fact, every day’s a holiday for someone and for some reason.
Although we may not know the origins of many of these holidays, avid celebrants will participate eagerly in marking July 10th as a most special day for so many different reasons.

On July 10th, Clerihew Day honors poet Edmund Clerihew Bentley (1875 – 1956), who devised a simple form of humorous poetry, known as the clerihew. A clerihew poem contains four rhyming lines (with uneven meter), employing an AABB rhyme scheme. Most clerihew poetry is somewhat biographical in subject.

Lady Godiva Day
July 10th is Lady Godiva, peeking back to the 11th Century. According to British legend, Lady Godiva, wife of the Earl of Mercia, rode a horse naked through the town of Coventry to protest her husband’s steep taxes. Ironically, Lady Godiva’s revealing ride is purported to have occurred in the year 1040.
July is Anti-Boredom Month, and the second week of July is considered Nude Recreation Month, perhaps the ideal occasion for a bit of skinny-dipping. Just be sure no Peeping Toms are around!
National Pina Colada Day
Do you like pina coladas? July 10th is National Pina Colada Day, featuring a tropical cocktail filled with coconut cream, crushed ice, pineapple and rum. Non-drinkers may enjoy virgin pina coladas (simply skipping the rum).
Smile Power Day
Does a smile actually require fewer muscles than a frown? No one seems to know for sure, but nearly everyone agrees that a smile can be powerful.

U.S. President Woodrow Wilson delivered the Treaty of Versailles, presenting the historic document in the American Senate on July 10, 1919.
