I needed a product to protect my skin, on a 7 night/8 day stay in a timeshare in Las Vegas. It’s hard enough to keep my skin soft, and full of moisture in Florida, with the dry heat of Vegas, I knew my skin would be at risk.
I decided to purchase a 2.0 fluid ounce (59 ml) tube of Johnson’s Body Care 24 Hour Body Lotion. It states on it ‘Clinically proven to moisturize for 24 hours, and of course it is a Johnson & Johnson product. I have always trusted their products with my skin, my daughter’s skin, and now the grandchildren.
This tube stands on it’s cap, it is a pastel pink color, with a slightly deeper pink flip top.
We left on the Thursday afternoon, and arrived at the timeshare mid-night local time, and 3.00 a.m. Florida time. Len’s daughter and her husband arrived from California at 7.00 a.m.
By the time we had gone out for breakfast, done food shopping, and got back to the apartment, my eyes, nose, and skin were dry. The humidity was 7% compared with 50% or more in Florida.
I got out my Johnson’s Body Care 24 Hour Body Lotion, and squeezed it onto my legs, arms, neck, and hands. It is a thick white cream, and takes a little while to rub into the skin. Once in my skin, it felt soft and moist, but this didn’t last for long.
We went to the pool area, and I swam for 30 minutes, came out and dried off, then did a work out in the gym. By the time I was back in the apartment my hands were really dry again. They weren’t cracked, but felt dry, and rough.
This was around 1 hour 30 minutes later, and I had to use more Johnson’s 24 Hour Body Lotion.
We went to Caesar’s Palace for the afternoon, and my skin felt good. We then came back to the timeshare and I went for a walk, and finished up in the gym. My fingers were dry again, so I applied more 24 Hour Body Lotion to them.
So what I am saying is that this product did not work for me for a 24 hour period. The following day the temperature dropped 20 degrees, and we headed to Paris, on the strip. We went up the Eiffel Tower, and could barely stand at the top, The winds were gusting up to 50 miles an hour. We took a few photographs and headed down.
When we got back to the timeshare, before heading out for dinner, my skin was so dry again. I have to say that Len’s contact lenses had moved, and stuck to his eyes. My eyes were so dry, that I was constantly using drops in them.
I really think that I put Johnson’s in an impossible situation, because it only lasted me 4 of my 8 days. I have never used so much, or lotion so often, as with this vacation.
I am sure that no brand would have succeeded in these circumstances.
Johnson’s state on the back of the bottle:
“She loves this delightfully scented lotion because it’s clinically shown to moisturize for 24 hours, leaving her skin feeling irresistibly soft and smooth from morning ’til night”
I am sure this would have been the case in Florida, but Johnson’s did not pass the test in Vegas.
