Joe Jackson, Michael Jackson’s opportunistic father, seems to have found someone else to blame in the death of his legendary son — Michael’s mother, Katherine. And he isn’t blaming Katherine Jackson, who has custody of Michael Jackson’s three children, for what she actually did but what she did not do. Joe Jackson told News of the World in a recent interview, that he believes that Michael Jackson would not have died if Katherine Jackson had spent time with him to “keep him cheered up.”
Joe Jackson, 80, spoke candidly with News Of The World in a recent interview about his son’s death and how he actually fought with Katherine Jackson over her going to visit Michael Jackson. He said that his pop star son was “looking kinda funny and frail” and that he believed she could “keep him cheered up.” But she refused, he said, because she didn’t want to invade her son’s privacy. After Michael Jackson’s death on June 25, 2009, Joe Jackson said he told his estranged wife, “I said this would have never happened if you had went and been with him.”
But Katherine Jackson is only one of several that have been the target of Joe Jackson’s blame over the death of his son.
Shortly after Michael Jackson died, Joe Jackson joined with several who pointed a finger of blame at AEG, the entity that was promoting Jackson’s “This Is It Tour,” and his managers and producers for pushing the frail singer beyond his physical limitations. Joe Jackson, in an interview with ABC News, said as much.
He also blamed Dr. Conrad Murray, Michael Jackson’s personal physician at the time of his death. Murray was investigated in the death of Michael Jackson and will possibly stand trial for manslaughter, but Joe Jackson, when he found out Murray’s defense might include the possibility that Michael took his own life, filed a wrongful death suit against Murray. According to the Daily Mirror, Jackson claimed that Dr. Conrad Murray’s actions on the day of his son’s death were “reckless” and “amount(ed) to second degree murder.”
And now the elder Jackson has turned on his wife.
Joe Jackson is currently in a legal battle to get an allowance from Michael Jackson’s estate — an estate he was purposely excluded from via Michael Jackson’s will, which set up the pop singer’s mother and children as the primary beneficiaries. TMZ reported Sunday that their sources say Katherine Jackson has been giving Joe Jackson money and “going along with his efforts to earn a living off MJ.”
It is unknown if Joe Jackson was paid for his interview with News Of The World, but it is a common practice for the British tabloid to pay its interviewees.
