Marriage is a consecrated, sacred, and holy institution between a man and a woman, and it was established by God. For this reason, marriages go through many obstacles.
Believe it or not, but anything that is attached to God will encounter greater trials because evil is always attempting to destroy the beautiful things of God. No wonder the divorce rate in America is over 40 percent.
Before people get married, they need to be properly equipped to deal with this reality.
Marriage is more than just the wedding ceremony, obviously.
So instead of wasting so much money just for one day, couples should invest in relationship counselors. Couples really think they can say their vows and then live happily ever after. Unfortunately, that rarely happens.
After the wedding is over, couples will need lots of help in becoming one. Husbands could actually learn some things from Adam.
When God presented Eve to Adam, Adam said, “This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called ‘woman,’ for she was taken out of man”(Genesis 2:23). If husbands and wives have this attitude, then it will be more difficult for anyone or anything to penetrate their marriages.
A husband should be looking in his wife’s eyes and seeing himself. Likewise, a wife should be touching her heart and feeling the heartbeat of her husband. This is when a couple is truly one.
Couples need to be engulfed in their love for each other because this love will actually construct a wall around their marriages. And when an outsider tries to seduce one of them, the man or woman can declare, “What God has joined together, let no man separate” (Mark 10:9).
This includes family members. Sometimes relatives do not respect the union between a man and his wife. For instance, a mother will try to get her married son to put her first, knowing that the wife takes precedence.
In addition, the wife might have a sibling who is on drugs, and that brother or sister will try to crush the marriage.
How? The wife will neglect her husband by trying to save that sibling who does not want to change. And as a result, her marriage will begin to hemorrhage. Hemorrhage
This type of ploy is evil and will weaken marriages if couples are not bold enough to say, “For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife” (Mark 10:7). This is actually one of Satan’s fears.
He does not want married people to leave and cleave. Satan wants for families, friends, and enemies to attached themselves to marriages and squeeze the life out of them.
A couple should not give others that much power to ruin their happiness. Sometimes people, including families and friends, are jealous and look forward to seeing the destruction of marriages.
Therefore, if married people want their relationships to last, they must keep everyone out of their homes. Then they must work diligently on becoming one while still being individuals. Thus, their unions will grow stronger and stronger.
