It is becoming increasingly difficult to watch a politically based television show, or read a political article without hearing about the anti-incumbent movement that is currently taking place in this country. Granted, there is a movement to elect fresh faces to congress and the senate, but is this movement really about getting new people in Washington, or is it more about the American people not liking the way the democrat party is taking this country with complete control of both the legislature and the whitehouse. As the media is becoming more and more a mouthpiece for the liberal left, they need to develop a way to spin the news to show the democrat left in as positive light as possible. They do not want to report that there is a drastic swing towards the political right occurring in this country.
The American people are becoming increasingly frustrated with the government in general. Unemployment is higher than many have experienced in their lives. Many students are graduating college with new degrees and finding that there simply is not jobs available for them because of rising unemployment and the simple fact that while they may have a shiny new college degree, someone else is gunning for the same jobs that they are, only the other person has real world experience. As much as the current administration would like to continue to place blame on the previous administration, the American public is demanding accountability and wants to see changes made.
Those that are still employed are questioning more and more why they should work long hours only to pay increasing portions of their paychecks to the government which in turn hands this money to others. As times are getting tougher, people want to see their taxes go down not up as has been promised through the addition of government programs such as health care. People are questioning why they should take massive hits to their pension plans which where invested heavily in American giants such as General Motors only to see those companies be taken over by the government in an effort to protect the pension of their union workers whose high salaries and generous pension plans led to the current environment where they cannot be competitive with their non-union rivals.
These are the types of things that people are beginning to question that are causing them to drift to the political right. Unfortunately, it is not being reported as a movement to the right or to conservative principles. The media has instead chosen to spin this in such a way as to make it appear that it is a movement away from those currently in power. While this may be true, it has nothing to do with the fact that these people are currently in power, and everything to do with their increasingly liberal and left leaning policies. Spin it any way you want, and the result will still be the same. Expect a more conservative congress in January.
