Dina Lohan supports her “awful mother” label during an appearance on Today with Matt Lauer. Throughout her interview, she staunchly defended Lindsay Lohan, blaming Judge Marsha Revel, the California court system, Michael Lohan, TMZ and the general public.
Is Dina Lohan nothng more than a huge enabler?
What’s an enabler? As explained at Merriam Webster, an enabler is “one that enables another to achieve an end; especially: one who enables another to persist in self-destructive behavior (as substance abuse) by providing excuses or by making it possible to avoid the consequences of such behavior.”
The question as to whether or not Dina Lohan is an awful mother became easier to answer after watching her on the Today show. It seems that everybody but Dina Lohan can admit that Lindsay Lohan has a serious substance abuse problem that not only threatens Lindsay’s career, but more importantly, her life.
Now, after serving time in jail, Lohan may leave her court ordered rehab early.”I’m not condoning drinking and driving, but she’s still paying the price for what she did in 2007,” says Dina Lohan as she ripped Judge Marsha Revel for “going overboard” and “playing hardball,” showing her pleasure that Revel is off the case. When Matt Lauer asked Dina if Lindsay deserved time in jail, Dina said no, never acknowledging the recent troubles Lindsay has had and continuing to blame Judge Revel.
Lindsay Lohan may leave California for New York
The one thing that may help Lindsay is leaving California. Dina Lohan said Lindsay Lohan will probably leave California to get away from the scene and the justice system. A change of scenery could be good for Lindsay, especially since she may not have to finish the 90 day rehab, a court ordered rehab that Dina Lohan is happy Lindsay may soon leave.
When Matt Lauer said, “You keep saying the judge played hardball. I think a lot of people out there, Dina, think that at some point Lindsay had this coming to her. That this was probably even a good thing to get her behind bars for a slightly longer time than the first time and get her back into rehab for her own good.”
All Dina Lohan could do was answer Lauer by strengthening her “awful mother” label. She would not acknowledge that Lindsay needs help, but simply blamed it on the public and propaganda. Despite the problems that Lindsay Lohan has had since she was 19, that the public can plainly see, Dina Lohan says Lindsay has changed for the better due to “age, living life and growing up.”
What would Michael Lohan say?
On Dina Lohan’s long list of blame is Michael Lohan, the father of Lindsay Lohan. He, too, has spoken out publicly about his daughter Lindsay, such as when he was interviewed on Larry King Live or when he was interviewed at TMZ.
He told TMZ that he had a mission of trying to rescue his 16-year-old daughter Ali Lohan from living with Lindsay in her apartment. In a video interview that lasted over 20 minutes, Michael Lohan told TMZ why he brought members of the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department to Lindsay’s apartment to check on Ali’s welfare.
Michael Lohan explained that when a friend called him and told him that Lindsay’s car was speeding down the road at over 100 mph and that Ali was in it, it was the straw that broke the camel’s back. Michael Lohan decided to contact authorities to “preserve peace and make sure Ali is okay.” Said Michael Lohan, “The same thing happened to Lindsay when she was 16 years old. Dina allowed her to be out with no real guardian.”
As the TMZ interviewer said to Michael Lohan, with Michael Lohan wholeheartedly agreeing, “Everyone, including the sheriffs, knows that Lindsay goes out every night, stays out late, goes to clubs and has a problem.”
Will Dina Lohan move away from the “awful mother” label and help rather than hinder her daughter?
Said Matt Lauer, “I’m going to agree with you that a lot of it is purely stuff that’s written in tabloids. I get that. But other things in her life she has simply done. She has gotten in trouble with the law. You can’t blame it all on the tabloids. She’s made some wrong choices.”
What will happen to Lindsay Lohan? What we do know is that If Lindsay’s life grows worse rather than better, Dina, who looks and sounds very much like her daughter Lindsay, will just find more people to blame.
