SPOILER ALERT
Christopher Nolan has outdone himself with this beyond conventional reasoning, philosophical and metaphysical blockbuster. This riveting and mind bending cinematic masterpiece is guaranteed to take the viewer on a intellectual and emotional thrill ride.
C. Nolan’s film has a deeper social and metaphysical meaning than most viewers will immediately realize. For instance, the correlation between Room 528 and the 528 Hz frequency. Christopher Nolan heralds “528” as the code through which social transformation involving musical mathematical knowledge is realized. “528” Hz/LOVE is a fundamental universal construction that has been forgotten by society. The third note frequency relates to the note MI on the Solfeggio(ancient musical scale) scale and derives from the phrase MI-ragestorum in Latin meaning miracle. MI- 528 Hz relates to the crown chakra. 528 is a simple number that is central to the musical mathematical matrix of creation.
Recalling the “key” to room 528 is crucial to the movies plot. In Room 528 “special” music must be played at a precise time to “extract” the operatives from their tortured pseudo-realities. The movie repeats 528 in a key phone number, on a napkin and two vault combinations. The music played in room 528 is linked to a forgotten memory of Robert Fischer Jr.
R. Fischer is the final target of “extractor” Dom Cobb. The difference with this business proposal is that D. Cobb is not “extracting”, but performing the art of inception. Inception being the beginning or creation of something. In this case, the creation of a seed (thought) that will cause Fischer to dismantle his business empire. If D. Cobb is successful with this inception he will then be united with his two estranged children. If he fails, he becomes trapped in a pseudo-existence.
In order to pull this mission into completion Dom assembles a team consisting of an architect (dream world constructor), an organizer, a forger (shape shifter, impersonator) and a pharmacist ( sedates, enabling deep sleep). Unknown to the team, with the exception of the architect Ariadne, Doms’ subconscious mind has the potential to sabotage the mission. “The potential” being his ex-wife Mal. Mal was Dom Cobb’s first experience with the art of inception. Mal came to the point where she was unable to distinguish reality from dream. Mal believed that the only way to escape from the labyrinth of dreams was to “die” while in the dream state. Thus, committing suicide believing that she would wake into a reality. Dom has carried the guilt of this event to such a degree that it is haunting and literally obstructing his mission. In order to complete the most critical mission of his existence, he must conquer the memory of Mal.
Love is what drives the characters of the film to reconcile their relationships, in order to reconstruct their lives.
This phenomenal mastery of cinema is a movie one must stay focused on in order to reap the intellectual benefits.
In my opinion, one must also watch this movie more than once to appreciate the sheer genius involved in its creation.
