Your graphing calculator can be your best friend once you learn how to use it. There’s no time to waste, let’s get started learning the basics!
Turning Your Graphing Calculator On and Off:
Step 1. Press the “on” button located on the lower left-hand side of the calculator. You should see a blinking cursor appear on the screen.
Step 2. To turn the graphing calculator off, press the “2nd” button (located in the upper left hand side of your calculator) followed by the “on” button.
Woohoo!! Great Job mashAllah!! I told you you could do it!!! Now let’s get on to basic arithmetic problems.
Adding and Subtracting Numbers:
Step 1. Type in the first number you want to add using the number keys and then press the “+” button.
Step 2. Type in the second number you want to add.
Step 3. If you only have two numbers to add then you can press the “enter” button to solve your problem. The answer should appear on the next line. However, if you have more than two numbers to add, then you should push the “+” button again, followed by another number. Keep doing this until you have entered all of the numbers you want to add, and then press the “enter” button to see the answer. You can also subtract numbers at the the same time. However the only difference is that you should push the “-“ button instead.
Let’s do an example:
Practice Problem # 1: Add the following numbers: 3 +6 + 9 = ?
Make sure you have a clear screen first by pushing the “clear” button located near the top right-hand side of your calculator. You should see a clear screen with a blinking cursor.
Press the following keys: [3] [+] [6] [+] [9] [enter]
You should get the answer 18 on the next line.

Practice Problem # 2 : Evaluate the following expression: 5 + 7 – 9 + 4 – 2 = ?
Press the following keys: [5] [+] [7] [-] [9] [+] [4] [-] [2] [enter]
You should get the answer 5 on the next line.

Multiplying and Dividing Numbers:
Step 1. Locate the multiplication button on your calculator. It should look like this “x” and is located on top of the subtraction button.
Step 2. Locate the division button. It should look like a division sign and is on top of the multiplication button. I can not type the division sign in this article so I will refer to division as “/”
Now let’s get to some practice problems shall we?
Practice Problem 3: Evaluate this expression: 5 x 6 / 10 = ?
Let’s push some buttons: [5] [x] [6] [/] [10] [enter]
You should get the answer 3 on the next line.
