The process to replace a tire on a road bike is relatively quite quick and easy. It does not require the usage of tools or other equipment and can be done efficiently with in a few minutes time. If you have purchased a new tyre or want to replace a flat or worn out tire the process requires the replacement of a tire onto the rim of the wheel. Following steps should be followed in order to replace a tire;
Firstly, place the tire halfway onto the rim and make sure that one tire bead would be placed around the rim and the other tire bead would be hanging over to the other side. If you want to repair a flat tire you would remove only one side of the tire to remove the tube inside. And of you have already repaired the tire then that would be your starting position.
After placing the tire halfway through the rim, place the stem of the tube through the valve hole hat is located on the wheel rim. After that, just simply place the tube inside the tire. The tube must be slightly inflated this is done to give the tube a proper shape. The tube must be inflated just a little never over inflate the tube as it wont be helpful in the tire replacing process.
Start replacing the other side of the tire by slightly pushing the tire bead onto the rim. Start from the valve stem and then work your way around in both directions and finish at the opposite end of the valve stem.
You should be very careful while working your way around the tire making sure that you do not pinch or do any harm to the tube that is between the tire bead and the side wall of the rim. If the tube is harmed it may get punctured and you would have to start all over again.
To push the tire bead onto the rim at the very last corner may be very difficult to do as the tire hardens but never try to push the tire bead onto the rim wall while using any kind of tool or equipment as it would further damage the tube and you would have to start all over again as the tube will get punctured again. Try pinching and pushing the sidewalls of the tire with the help of your fingers and thumb and then try to push the tire bead up onto the rim wall.
After finishing, make sure that the tube is not caught in between the tire bead and the rim wall from any side while you were working through the whole wheel. After that, attach the inflating pump onto the valve stem and start inflating the tire according to your requirements. You can find the specified upper pressure limits that are suitable for your tire on the side wall of your tire.
