How to Really Install Your Vonage Phone Service

by itchyfish

Before you start, pull up a internet page. Go to www.speedtest.net and run a speed test by clicking begin test on the map. If you get a message that the page can’t be displayed call your internet company, your internet is down. If you get a Download speed number that is under 1MBPS call, an Upload number that is below .25MBPS or a ping number that is above 50ms call Vonage at 1VonageHelp(18662434357) so they can explain potential issues with your service.

IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A SEPARATE ROUTER (A router that is not built into your internet modem)

For cable internet users:
1) There a coax cord. This is a twist on cord that looks like what connects to your TV. Remove this cord.
2) There is a power cord. This is a small black cord that looks like what charges your cellphone. Remove it.
3) There is a Ethernet cord. It looks like a phone cable but larger. This goes to your computer. Remove it.
4) Open the vonage box. Take out the phone adapter (the black box with the screen on it).
5) Take the blue cord out of the vonage box. Connect it into the blue hole in the back of your phone adapter.
6) Place the loose end of the blue cord into the back of the internet modem.
7) Take the loose ethernet cord that you earlier took out of the internet modem and place it in the yellow hole in your phone adapter.

You should now have a cord going from your internet modem to the blue hole in vonage and a cord going from the yellow hole in vonage to your computer.
If not. Call 1VonageHelp (18662434357).

8) Connect the power cord and twist on coax cord to the internet modem only. Wait until the Cable, Ready or Online light goes solid.
9) Once your Cable, Ready or Online light is solid green and no longer blinking connect power to your vonage phone adapter.

IF YOU TRANSFERED A NUMBER INTO VONAGE AND CAN MAKE CALLS BUT NOT RECEIVE THEM:

This is normal. Your number transfer has probably not completed yet. Check your email, there should be a date in them that says what day your number transfer will finish. If there is no email call vonage and they can give you information on your number transfer. The process takes 7-10 business days to complete.
