Typing “how to make money online” is one of the most frequent searches. There are so many e-books and sources that give you enormous amounts of information, but when everything is said and done, they all really say the same thing. Many of these online “gurus” sell you this type of information. Few give out the information for free and then blast you with emails saying something is a great deal for whatever price. Then, there are few who actually try to help you and will email you giving advice if you ask for it. The issue of online money making makes people non believers because of enormous amounts of scam artists.
Over the last decade, I searched intensely for ways to make money. I tried a few affiliate sites, bars that you could set at the bottom of your screen that would pay you for watching it, amongst a few pay sites. The most I made was $40.00. I gave up because it wasn’t worth my time. At this time, it wasn’t hard for me to find a job either.
In the summer of 2009, I tried being a travel writer, which seemed like a great idea. I found sites that said I could write from home, publish a few articles, and begin to travel. Actually, www.associatedcontent.com was one of the sites I was introduced to, but I haven’t been truly committed. I did get an article published from a magazine out of seattle, but I didn’t pursue other magazines simply because so many of their “guidelines” said it could be months before a reply. This deterred me.
Then, I received an email from a writing site that had a video of John Chow. I almost deleted it, but I had nothing else to do, so I listened. What he said made a lot of since, but I wondered if he was just another “guru” not willing to help. I went to his site www.johnchow.com and downloaded his free ebook. I did everything in his ebook, but then realized I needed traffic and more ideas to get traffic. Most people say if you write great content and a lot of it, traffic will just come. I disagree. Either you need to be a great persuader or have a lot of friends to gain traffic. Of course, on sites like this one, we can make friends. Chow introduced me to google adsense. I put adsense on my website, but very little was happening.
It finally hit me. I had to tell more than just the few friends I had in email, so here is what I did: I asked my mother to send me emails of people she knew, some of which I knew as well. I asked each one to click on my google links at the top of my website. I only sent 8 emails and clicks began to happen. I made $40 within 7 days. Then, I wrote on every wall of my friends on facebook. In the month of May, I made $281. However, my facebook friends rarely click on them. In June, I made $152. According to John Chow, 90% of the internet make less than $100 per month from both adsense and writing articles. I have made a little from writing and affiliate websites, but nothing to brag about – yet. So, I do not understand why more people don’t make money or try to off of google when it is so simple.
If all 150 of my facebook friends would simply do the following:
Create a website, insert google adsense, tell your friends to put the site in their favorites, and click daily. Anyone that says he/she doesn’t have time is lying. Creating a website can be free at sites like www.blogspot.com, but I would recommend getting your own domain name so your site is unique to you. If all 150 of my friends clicked my ads, I would make nearly $1500 per day if they clicked all 3 ads. The strange thing about this is that I only have 3 ads where other sites have 3 ads per page of their website. Ads do rotate, so people can click more than 3. So how can this benefit more than just me?
All I need is 10 friends to make $100 per day, but they can make the same by following the pattern below.
Scott, Mike, David, Jill, Susan, John, Jennifer, Autumn, Sam, Bob, and Bill are all friends. I’m Scott.
Scott goes to each of his friends’ websites and clicks. Mike also goes to each of Scott’s friends and clicks including Scott’s, then David does the same and so on. No one is left out, no one has to pay one cent, (unless you build your own site, which is around $5.95 per month) and everyone is making extra money.
Now, results vary on what type of website you create. I have a travel website at www.thetravellingtravelagent.com, and I get adsense ads from sites like expedia, travelocity, cruise.com, etc… These sites will pay a lot for clicks because they can afford it. Either way, it isn’t hard to make $100 per day if you have friends willing to dedicate and participate for an entire 5 minutes out of his/her day. Obviously, each of Scott’s friends could branch out and find 10 more friends of their own.
