Soup is one of the best meals your can serve! It’s cheap and easy and hearty and healthy. And kids love soup! Your kids will really like making Surprise Soup. You will love it too because all you have to do is open the cans and heat and serve!
Buy a variety of cans of soup. You can buy chunky soup and condensed soup. When you get home, take all the labels off the cans of soup before putting them away in your pantry. Just mix them all up and store them for when you are ready to make Surprise Soup!
When you are ready to make your Surprise Soup, have each member of the family pick out one of the mystery cans of soup. Then have each member of the family open their can of soup (or you can open it for a small child) and pour it into a soup pot. If a can happens to be a condensed soup, add water according to the directions.
Mix all the soups together in the pot and heat until hot. While you are heating the soup, have the kids set the table with soup bowls and soup spoons. You can also have them put out a loaf of bread and some butter. Bread and butter is awesome with soup!
When the soup is hot, it’s time to serve it! How easy was that? Make eating the Surprise Soup fun for the kids by making them try to find an ingredient in their bowl that came out of their can of soup. Then have everyone come up with other varieties of soup you can buy to put in your pantry without the labels. You’ll be surprised how tasty soup is if you mix it up. A can of tomato soup goes great with any chicken based soup. A noodle soup goes great with any vegetable soup. Just be sure you only buy one can of each variety of soup so each can that goes in the pot is different. The kids really will enjoy this meal. They will!
If soup and bread is not enough to fill your family, you can always serve a salad too. Buying the pre-packaged salad mix is a quick and easy way to serve salad. But you can save money by buying your own lettuce. It only takes a minute to wash it and cut it up. Add a few other salad veggies and put out some bottles of salad dressing and you’ve got a great meal. For dessert, why not serve up some no bake peanut butter pie!
