Summer season calls for shorts, tank tops, dresses and ensembles that bare more skin than usual. Is your skin glowing and radiant, or are you dealing with dull and flaky skin from the winter? If you’re beach bound and want to make sure your skin looks clean and healthy, here are some tips for getting radiant skin for the beach this summer:
Use a Body Scrub in the Shower
Body scrubs and polishes are great for getting rid of dead skin cells and promoting the skin cell renewal process. Brown sugar body scrubs, pumice scrubs and scrubs made with micro buffing beads will help to slough away dead skin cells and leave it silky and smooth. Use a body scrub in conjunction with a steam shower to open up pores and purge away toxins that might have built up over the winter and spring seasons. This body-scrubbing routine can be performed on a weekly basis, and up to twice per week if your skin needs a deep-clean.
Exfoliate with Glycolic Pads
If you’re dealing with acne scars on the back, pigmented skin or just want to give your back, neck, elbows and knees a good buffing, reach for glycolic pads instead. Glycolic acid is an exfoliant and will help to lift away pigment, dead skin cells and debris resting on the skin’s surface. You can use these pads immediately after a shower so that the product can sink into the skin and promote cell turnover. Using these pads every night, or every other night, will help you achieve clearer, more radiant skin within a few weeks.
Use a Clay Mask for the Body
Clay masks designed for the face can be just as effective for purging those pores on your back and neck area. Use a clay mask on problem areas after you shower to help clear up acne and cleanse the pores at a deeper level. It’s best to use these types of masks after a shower because your pores will be softer and open. You can wipe away the mask with a warm towel or cloth dipped in hot water before moisturizing the treated area.
Pamper Skin with a Nourishing Body Butter
Hydrated skin looks healthier and will be easier to take care of during the summer months. Use an all-natural body butter or shea butter moisturizer all over your body to replenish lost moisture and protect your skin from toxins in the environment. You can apply body butter after a shower day or night, and apply a few extra layers to rougher areas such as the elbows and knees for extra protection.
From exfoliating skin with a body scrub to pampering skin with body butter, there are several ways to achieve and maintain a radiant glow this summer. Use some for these strategies to prep your skin for the beach and summer activities!
