Up until a couple of years ago, I never got headaches or migraines. Lately though, I’ve been getting at least one bad headache or migraine every month and couldn’t seem to find anything to cure them. Then, after months of trying ibuprofen, Tylenol, Excedrin and a ton of other drugs, with none particularly effective, a friend recommended trying apple cider vinegar (ACV). Known to be useful for many health problems, apple cider vinegar (ACV) is actually a wonderful cure for headaches and migraines for many people – myself included – and here’s how to use it.
What You Need to Cure Yourself of a Headache/Migraine with ACV – Curing a headache with apple cider vinegar is one of the cheapest remedies around. All you need is a bottle of apple cider vinegar, a large bowl (something the size of a mixing bowl will do), a towel and some boiling hot water.
Preparing the Apple Cider Vinegar – Using apple cider vinegar to cure a headache or migraine literally takes one minute to prepare. Pour approximately a quarter of a cup of ACV into a large mixing bowl, fill the bowl half full with boiling hot water and place the bowl on a table and cover with a towel. That’s it.
How To Cure Yourself of a Headache with ACV – Put your head under the towel so your face is directly over the bowl of ACV and water. Breath in slowly and deeply and breath out. Keep doing this, keeping your breathing slow and steady – in and out, in and out – for approximately 5-10 minutes until the water begins to cool down. Make sure you keep your face high enough over the bowl that the steam doesn’t burn your face (if you get too close to the water it may). Then, take your head out from under the towel, wipe off your face and lie down on the bed for a few minutes. Within 10-15 minutes at the most, you should slowly find your headache or migraine beginning to lessen and a feeling of relaxation spreading throughout your body. The ACV also gives you a very nice steam facial, excellent for cleaning your pores.
How to Cure Yourself of a Migraine with ACV – For a migraine treatment and cure with apple cider vinegar, I’ve discovered an added step usually makes the ACV even more effective. Before I put my head under the towel and over the bowl, I dip a face cloth in the ACV and water, wring it out (being careful not to burn my hands), then place the hot towel soaked with water and apple cider vinegar on my back of my neck. Then I put my face under the towel. The added heat and vinegar on the back of my neck works well with migraines, and it’s rare mine don’t go away within 15-20 minutes.
Curing a headache or migraine with apple cider vinegar (ACV) doesn’t work for everyone but, as at least 80% of the people I’ve recommended it to say it’s worked well, I would say it’s a pretty effective cure. Plus, it’s so cheap to do (a $4 bottle of apple cider vinegar will last you at least 10 times), it’s well worth trying this headache remedy before you spend yet more money on over-the-counter drugs that aren’t that effective.
