If you have a Nintendo Wii Fit Plus, you can create routines to customize your daily workout. Wii Fit provides a variety of different exercises that you can use to create a workout routine that will help you to reach your fitness goals. Wii Fit routines cycle through the exercises automatically so that you don’t have to manually select exercises. This can help you to burn more calories and build strength faster. If you already have a Wii Fit balance board with the original disc, you can access the Wii Fit Plus Routines feature by purchasing a Wii Fit Plus disc.
To get started, place your Wii Fit Plus disc into the Nintendo Wii game console. Select the “Disc Channel” with the “A” button on your Wii remote, then select your Mii. Select “Start.” Select the “Training” button and press “A.” Select “My Wii Fit Plus.”
Creating Workout Routines with Wii Fit Plus Routines
In “My Wii Fit Plus,” select “My Wii Fit Plus” with your Wii remote control. You can select from four different categories to create you Wii Fit Plus workout routine. “Lifestyle” includes a warm up, shoulder and back exercises and a relaxation exercise. “Health” includes three exercises to help you lose weight. “Youth” has exercises for posture, mind and body and legs and hips. “Form” includes exercises that target the hips, arms and whole figure. Each selection contains three exercises whose order can’t be rearranged. Select “Start” to begin your chosen workout routine.
One of the best ways to create a Wii Fit workout routine is to select the “Combine” button. This will give you access to all four workout routine categories. Always start with “Warm Up.” Then add an exercise that will help you reach your fitness goals. It’s best to alternate between categories as you add exercises to your Wii Fit workout routine. Also vary the part of the body to be exercised each time you add an exercise to your Wii Fit workout routine. For example, you could choose “Tummy,” “Posture,” “Arms,” “Legs and Hips,” “Leaner Mii” and “Hips.” Finish your Wii Fit Workout Routine with “Relax.” Start out with “One at a time,” then as you build more strength and stamina, try moving up to “Two at a time” or “Three at a time.”
Creating Workout Routines with My Routine in Wii Fit Plus
In “My Wii Fit Plus,” select “My Routine.” In this view, you can add yoga poses and strength training exercises to create a personalized workout routine.
To create a yoga workout routine in Wii Fit, select the “Yoga” tab and select a warm up exercise such as “Deep Breathing” or “Sun Salutation” from the list. Then add a more vigorous yoga pose such as “Warrior,” “Chair” or “Downward-Facing Dog.” Add as many other yoga poses as you like. Just keep in mind that certain Wii Fit yoga poses, such as “Triangle,” “Dance,” “Shoulderstand,” “Spine Extension,” “Gate” and “Grounded V” are either difficult to perform or are for advanced users only. Keep your Wii Fit yoga workout routine short at first, especially if you’re new to yoga. Add more exercises to your routine as you become more adept at yoga.
To create a strength training routine in Wii Fit, start with a warm up exercise such as “Single Leg Extension” or “Torso Twists.” Add strength training exercises such as “Lunge,” “Single Leg Twist,” “Tricep Extension” and “Rowing Squat.” Only add strength training exercises such as “Jackknife,” “Pushup and Side Plank,” “Arm and Leg Lift,” “Single Arm Stand” and “Balance Bridge” if you’re already strong or if you are an advanced user. Add another “Single Leg Extension” or “Torso Twist” to the end of your workout routine as a cool-down.
To create a combination yoga and strength training Wii Fit workout routine, follow this same pattern, alternating between yoga and strength training exercises. Choose a warm-up exercise, then add some easy but more vigorous exercises. Work your way up to harder exercises that are within your ability to perform. Then add relaxation or cool-down exercises to the end of your Wii Fit Plus workout routine.
