I always thought I would hate wearing eyelashes until a friend of mine got me to try it. Now, I usually wear them every time I go out. Don’t be afraid if you have never done this before. If I can do it, so can you and here a few simple steps to help get you started.
Pick your pair. Go to your local beauty supply store or even department store. Places like Target and Wal-Mart even sell eyelashes now. After you start browsing, you may be able to more easily decide whether or not you’d like full eyelashes, long eyelashes, or just some to give you some thickness. There is a kind of eyelashes that will have “demi” on the box is they are shorter on one end and longer then the other.
After you pick the eyelashes, don’t forget to get a glue to go with them. Make sure the box says that the glue you choose is for strip eyelashes and not individuals. Most places also offer them in options of clear or black colored glue. The white actually dries clear and I have found it to be a little easier to work with if you make a mistake.
Apply the lashes. Be very careful pulling them out of the package as you can easily bend them and make them very difficult to use. Just pulling them slowly works well. After you pull them off, apply a drop of glue to a Q-Tip and spread the glue out thinly over the strip. Now, you are ready to apply!
Put them on in the direction so that they curve with your natural eyelashes. If you have “demi” eyelashes, the shorter end of the eyelash should go on the side closest to your nose. Only do one eye at a time and keep it close. Apply the lash as close to the natural eyelash as you can without getting the glue to close to your eye. Stick it on and hold it in place for about five seconds. Allow about an additional thirty seconds for it to completely dry. Repeat the same process with the other eye. If you don’t have it perfect, it’s ok. Pull it off gently and start over.
Get liquid eyeliner and don’t forget the mascara! I would get black or brown depending on the color eyelashes you purchased. There is always a little area between the strip eyelash and your natural lash that the liquid eyeliner can be used to conceal. Just place a thin line on this area and a little mascara and you are good to go! Putting mascara on your natural lash and the strip lash will help you get the best results.
The lashes typically only last one day, but can be reapplied about eight times if you take good care of them. To take good care of them entails putting them back in the box when you are finished and peeling off the glue that sticks to them before you reapply. You will love the results you get from the eyelashes. They are so much fun to do every once in a while if you are looking for a different look or every day if you choose. Don’t be discouraged if you have trouble. Just keep practicing and you will have the hang of it in no time!
