According to market research, the average American woman spends about $50,000 during her lifetime just on her hair. (1) That’s right. Over the course of my life, I am predicted to spend enough money on hair care and hair products to pay off my student loans and put a down-payment on a house. That’s not even taking into account all of the time and energy that goes into hair care as well.
If I’m going to be spending that much on my hair, I want to be happy with my hair care products. I’m not advocating spending a fortune on hair, but I do think that it is worth buying products that you like and that do a good job. For me recently, I have been happy with Pantene products for dyed hair.
I’ve used Pantene hair care products in the past and been pleased with both the price and the product. Recently I was given free samples from Pantene’s new line. I have dyed hair (naturally dark brown, but dyed a mahogany/chesnut with large honey blonde highlighted sections). I tried Pantene’s color Hair Solutions Color Preserve Shine Shampoo and Conditioner. Other members of my family with dyed hair also tried this shampoo and conditioner and gave their feedback.
Overall, I would definitely give Pantene’s Color Preserve Shine Shampoo and Conditioner the thumbs up. A large bottle normally costs $5.99. (2) You can definitely buy cheaper shampoos, but this is by no means expensive, either. Price range is fairly mid-range. It definitely feels better than cheap shampoos and conditioners and works much better as well, but is far cheaper than many of the alternatives.
The thing that I like best about this shampoo and conditioner is that I feel like it really cares for my hair color. Some shampoos that I’ve tried have stripped my hair color so that the color fades faster or seems patchy. Using Pantene Color Preserve Shine, though, my hair color kept looking good for much longer than normal. I needed to eventually re-dye my hair, because it had grown out rather than because the color had changed. It also helped my hair color to stay brighter as well, rather than getting a dull, matte look.
I also liked that the shampoo and conditioner are very gentle. I have dry, sensitive skin, and some hair products irritate my skin. The Pantene products, though, are always gentle on my skin and scalp. It just doesn’t seem as harsh as some shampoos. Reading the ingredients, though, I did discover that it does contain some sulfates. This is not an organic natural product, but it is gentler than many other “supermarket shampoos”.
After using the Pantene Color Preserve Shine products, my hair seemed very manageable. I did not need very many other products to style it, and it seemed less frizzy than it has with other products. Most of the time, I just comb it (sometimes with my fingers), and it’s ready to go. However, it did work well in combination with other hair products. Even when using hairspray and styling gel, my hair didn’t seem too heavy or gunky.
Overall, I’m really glad that I tried out Pantene’s Color Hair Solutions shampoo and conditioner. I am really happy with how they clean my hair and the way that my hair looks and feels afterwards.
