Birthday parties are a celebration that can take a toll on your budget if you’re not careful. There are things that you can do such as making the cake and doing all the decorating yourself that will help to keep the cost with your budget. Among the things you can do yourself are the invitations. While they can be purchased at virtually any store, sometimes for a rather low costs you can make them yourself rather inexpensively.
There are a number of options when it comes to making your own birthday party invitations. Whether the party if for a child or an adult will influence your choice when you decide what to use when you make the invitations. An invitation to a child’s party will likely be more creative in most cases than those to adults parties. Either way there are options available to you.
Print Them Yourself
You can use a simple computer program to print out various designs for the invitations to your birthday party onto plain white or colored card stock paper. You can design every aspect from the actual design to the wording of the invitations. The advantage of printing them out on your computer is that you can be sure they are all neatly done and even individualize them for each person that you are sending them to.
When you print out the birthday party invitations you’ll want to make sure that you have enough ink in your printer and enough paper. Make sure to examine the designs carefully so that you get the one that you want and aren’t wasting paper or ink which would defeat the purpose of trying to make the invitations on a budget.
Construction or Card Stock Paper, Stickers and Markers
You and your kids can make invitations to their birthday parties together. A pack of colored construction or card stock (the stock paper is sturdier), stickers and markers are all that you need to create the invitations. Your child can pick a theme for their party such as a Disney character, flowers, animals etc and you can purchase an inexpensive pack of stickers to put on the fronts of each invitation. The markers are to put the time, date, etc on each invitation.
Decorate the Envelopes
When you get the invitations made you can decorate some plain envelopes to match them. You want to make sure that you address them all first to ensure that you don’t decorate over where the address will be put on the envelope. A small, thin ribbon can be tied into a bow and glued on one corner to help dress up the envelope.
Making your own invitations for a birthday party on a budget isn’t difficult you just have to find a little time to do it.
