What is an upset stomach
An upset stomach can range from feeling bloated, being constipated, having diarrhea, sour stomach, nausea, cramps, and so on. Upset tummy in all its forms is uncomfortable, sometimes painful, and very often even embarrassing.
Sometimes we need a quick cure because we can’t run to the store, or we may just want to lay off prescription or OTC medications and try more homeopathic remedies to cure our stomach aches.
Stomach problems can come on for a variety of reasons — overeating or overindulging in the wrong foods, too much to drink )especially alcohol), or being sick with a virus or disease. Heartburn and indigestion are very common, and in this day of fast and no-so-good-for us foods, it’s important to know how to help our tummies recover from being ill.
Remember, consult with your physician before starting any new treatment for stomach ailments, and check for medication interactions, allergies, and consider if there is any reason why you should not try a certain home remedy for upset stomach.

Home Remedies and Homeopathic Cures for Stomach Ache, Heartburn, Indigestion, and other Tummy Ailments
Try drinking ginger ale (made with real ginger), or better yet buy a finger of ginger and shave off a small amount and eat it. You can also find candied ginger in health food stores.
It’s one of my favorite home remedies for nausea, and it works wonders for me.
2. Heating Pad and / or Stomach Massage
When my stomach aches or I am having cramps or other stomach ailments, I love to use my heating pad in conjunction with a light and soothing tummy massage. I just rub my tummy in slow, gentle circles and that works for me, but there are other methods.
This can also help ease the pain of menstrual cramps and diarrhea, and is said to help IBS, constipation, gas, bloating, and so on.

Remember to be careful with heating pads — they can burn you!
3. Saltine Crackers and / or Toast
Nibbling on saltine crackers or slightly burnt toast can help ease stomach acid by absorbing the acid.
When I am sick and I can’t eat, crackers and/or toast are good to help get a little nourishment.
4. Avoid Irritants
When you’re suffering from stomach problems, one of the best home remedies is not what to take, but what to avoid. Try to avoid taking any anti-inflammatory drugs if you can. (Ask your doctor before discontinuing any medication.)
These drugs can irritate your stomach and make existing digestive problems worse, so if your doctor okays it, or if you take a lot of OTC drugs, try to avoid them while you’re having stomach problems.
Also, avoid spicy foods, as these can often be a source of irritation.
5. Try A Warm Bath
I love a warm bath when I am not feeling well, especially when I am suffering from a stomach ache.
I love to add a few drops of essential oil to a warm bath, lie on my side, and let the warm water envelope me.
6. Loosen Up
Loosening up your belt and / or pants can help ease stomach pains or other intestinal problems. Sometimes, too tight clothing can even be a cause of those problems, so be aware of how your clothes and accessories fit, and make sure your undergarments and outer layers of clothing are well-fitting and not too tight.
If they are, buy bigger clothing, or try to lose a few pounds when possible. Losing even 10% of your body weight can help ease a variety of ailments, stomach problems included. (Think hernias, constipation, indigestion, heartburn)
7. Prune Juice
Prune juice can help speed things along when you are constipated. Start slowly and drink a little at a time; this is one area you don’t want to overdo it, especially if you’re not used to fruit juices, fruits, or high fiber foods.
8. Baking Soda
Use approximately 1/2 teaspoon to 4oz of warm water.
Baking soda is safe when used in moderation, but as with anything else, it is possible to overdo it.
Read the instructions on the box for directions, and be sure to follow those guidelines.
If you think your symptoms are a sign of something more serious, or if they are persistent, consult a physician.
While we are all bound to get sick once in a while, the best home remedy for stomach ache is to prevent it in the first place. Maintain a healthy weight, eat a balanced and nutritious diet, and indulge in exercise.
