We have been doing some remodeling in our home, and I have had the chore of painting several rooms. One day when I was shopping at my local Home Depot store for paint and painting supplies, I found a real bargain! At the end of one aisle in the paint section they had a package of Canvas Drop Cloths, which are distributed by Home Depot USA, Inc.
The large bag contained two canvas drop cloths, and the bag says they measure six feet by nine feet. In small print it also says that the actual dimensions are five feet nine inches by eight feet nine inches. The package says that the drop cloths weigh 8 ounces. The Home Depot Canvas Drop Cloths have finished hems and seams, they can be washed and used over and over again, they are durable and will last much longer than plastic drop cloths, and unlike plastic they are super absorbent.
The packaging states that they can be used for projects that involve painting, cleaning, wallpapering, and “other projects”. These are indeed great tools to have around the home if you do any kind of painting jobs, and I would buy these again in a heart beat.
The Home Depot Canvas Drop Cloths are very heavy and a bit stiff, and they remind me of unbleached muslin fabric, as they are light tan in color. I like that they are stiff because when I placed them on my floor and up against the wood trim on the bottom of my walls, they covered the trim well and stayed in place. When I was steaming wallpaper off of my walls, the steamer caused droplets of water to run down my sheet rock, and this caused it to become wet where the sheet rock met the trim. Having the Home Depot Canvas Drop Cloths at the bottom of the wall allowed the water to collect on the cloths instead of on my walls.
The size is perfect, large enough to cover a good sized area, but small enough to be manageable. When I dripped some paint on these cloths, the paint also absorbed into them slightly, so when I accidentally stepped onto the painted areas my foot didn’t stick to it like it would have had I dripped onto a plastic drop cloth.
If you are going to be doing messy jobs such as spraying orange peel texture onto your walls, these cloths will make a good choice for covering up furniture, counters, or other objects that you want to protect. I love that I purchased the two drop cloths for less than $8.00, and I can wash and reuse them again and again. Thick plastic drop cloths can be just as expensive, and they generally have to be thrown away after each job, meaning I am not getting as good a deal for my dollar.
Home Depot Canvas Drop Cloths are good quality, they are versatile, and they really helped me to prepare my floors for my painting jobs. None of the paint spills have ever leaked through these cloths, they are thick and durable, and I give them two big thumbs up.
