By now you’ve heard the news that MTV’s “The Hills” star, Heidi Montag, has supposedly split from her controlling husband, Spencer Pratt. But even though Montag has filed for a legal separation from her husband of one year, fans are still wondering if her new single girl life is real or made for TV.
Since splitting with Pratt late last month, Montag reportedly moved in with pal Jen Bunney, a onetime “Hills” player. (Bunney caused drama a few seasons back when she “hooked up” with everybody’s boyfriend, Brody Jenner, behind Lauren Conrad’s back.)
And now Montag and Bunney are set to start filming their own girly reality show later this summer, just as “The Hills” fades into the sunset. (This is the final season of the hit show.)
But according to TMZ, there’s something strange behind Heidi’s new multimillion dollar digs. As in, neither her name or Jen Bunney’s name is on the lease. So who would sign a lease for Montag and Bunney before Montag even left her husband?
Meanwhile, the usually animated Spencer Pratt has been very quiet on Twitter lately. While he’s been known for his insulting diatribes on reality TV celebs (he’s gotten into it with Audrina Patridge, “Jersey Shore”‘s J-Woww and blogger Perez Hilton), he’s been keeping quiet, except for a recent accusation that Montag hacked into his Twitter account to plug her friends, the Shannon twins.
Montag’s Twitter page, on the other hand, is filled with bubbly sentiments about slumber parties and repetitive plugs for pals Jen Bunney, Kristina and Karissa Shannon. Apparently she wants everyone in the world to follow her friends on Twitter.
According to People, Montag did indeed file for a legal separation from Pratt earlier this week, but she did not file divorce papers and she did not list a lawyer.
One other thing- have you noticed that Heidi and Spencer haven’t been shown on “The Hills” for the past two episodes (ever since their split was announced)? Although the current “Hills” episodes were filmed more than a month ago, it’s strange how the producers of the show are carefully keeping Heidi and Spencer out of the current storylines and out of the spotlight.
Of course now that the splitsville story has broken, Heidi and Spencer aren’t doing any filming at all, at least not according to their co-stars.
Lo Bosworth told People, “I’ve worked with them for too long, and they haven’t been filming, so I think this is a way they think they can get back on the show for the last few episodes”. Other “Hills” stars agree that the whole breakup smells of a publicity stunt.
For the Pratt’s to miss out on lucrative “Hills” filming dates (they are reportedly paid per episode) it can only mean one thing: They must have something bigger and better in the works.
