Kiwi fruit is one of the best fruits to eat to help aid in digesting, lowering high blood pressure, preventing color cancer, reducing heart attacks and treating respiratory problems. Kiwis even help with hunger because they contains high amounts of fiber which helps keep your tummy fuller longer. However, many people do not eat kiwis because they do not know how to remove the fuzzy skin from them and prepare them. For those of you who don’t know how to peel a kiwi and prepare it to eat keep reading and I will tell you.
The best way to peel a kiwi fruit is to place it onto a cutting board and begin slicing the fuzzy kiwi skin off with a pairing knife like you are peeling a potato. Try not to take a lot of the fleshy green fruit with skin if possible. Once you have removed the fuzzy skin from the kiwi you should be left with a green fleshy sweet fruit that has an almost egg type shape to it. Now what you want to do is take your pairing knife and cut the kiwi fruit it to thin or thick slices until the whole fruit is cut up. You can even eat it whole if you prefer. I personally think it is easier and less messier to slice it up and it is with a fork because it is so juicy. I sometimes even like to cut them up and toss them in a blender with some strawberries and plain yogurt for a delicious filling smoothie. However you want to eat the kiwi is your choice once you get the skin off of it.
Now the best way to get the health benefits from the kiwi is to eat 2 to 3 servings a day, which equals about 1 to 2 kiwis. The kiwis with the most health benefits are the ones that are ripened the most because they contain the most antioxidants in them that help fight off free radical cells that cause many health problems such as cancers, diseases and illnesses. However, don’t try to eat a mushy kiwi because they are most likely gone bad. Although I must say I like my kiwis soft and juicy because they are sweeter and tastier. I even like to eat them after a meal that cause my stomach to be upset because they have tons of enzymes in them that can help digest the food and relieve any discomfort I am having. I even eat them once a day to help prevent asthma attacks and the common cold and flu because they have loads of vitamin C and omega 3 and 6 in them.
So, there you have it the health benefits you can get from eating kiwis and how to peel and prepare them to eat. Now go eat some and enjoy their sweetness and all the healthy health benefits you can get from them. Remember 1 to 2 ripened kiwis a day will provide your body with the most antioxidants and health benefits.
