The HCG Diet is so hot right now you can buy “HCG diet noodles,” but before you try the fad, use the noodle between your ears because the HCG diet ended up giving my diet bet challenger a problem she did not bet on!
I embarked on a 26-day diet bet with a friend who wanted to go on the HCG (Human chorionic gonadotropin) diet so I could write about it as an HCG diet review.
I challenged her to a diet bet to see who would lose the most weight, inches around the belly button and body fat percentage. I also wanted to see whether either one of us could even stay on our challenging plans.
While she was stuck on a 500-calorie diet that included HCG diet noodles and HCG drops, I would run/jog five hours a week and eat a sensible diet for the HCG diet review.
I was shocked by the results of our HCG diet versus running bet that I will outline in this HCG Diet Review.
My friend had to halt the bet a week early because she could not get her period to stop for more than two weeks until getting off the HCG drops. She, therefore, only used 21 days of her 26-day supply of HCG drops.
Here are the results of our HCG versus running diet bet:
HCG results for weigh loss: She gained two weeks during the first two days when you are supposed to “load up” on food. She then lost 7 pounds (including the two she gained) during the first three weeks. The fourth week she gained back two pounds. Final weight loss in 26 days: 3 pounds
HCG results for body fat percentage: She lost 3 percent body fat percentage in three weeks and then gained back one percent the fourth week. Total body fat percentage loss: 2 percent.
HCG results for inches around stomach: She lost two inches in three weeks, and gained back the inches the fourth week. Total inches lost: Zero.
Running results for weight: I gained 2 pounds the first week running and then lost 12 pounds the following three weeks. Total weight loss: 10 pounds.
Running results for body fat percentage: I steadily lost body fat percentage for a total body fat loss: 4 percent
Running results for inches around stomach: I also steadily lost inches around my waist. Total inches lost around stomach: 3 inches
For those who aren’t familiar with HCG, many people take HCG, a pregnancy hormone, in the form of shots or sublingual (under the tongue) drops, in order to lose weight or become pregnant. To lose weight on HCG, they follow an extremely rigid 500 calorie diet also called the Simeons protocol named after A.T.W. Simeons.
The diet, which is promoted by info-commercial guy Kevin Trudeau, has been around for a long time, but the new HCG fad is to use the drops under the tongue.
Some people wonder how they can even stay on a 500-calories diet such as HCG. My friend slipped up several times, cheating on her diet. I also had a hard time running due to the weather so I did sometimes substitute the use of the elliptical machine for running outside.
Bottom line for this HCG Diet Review and HCG Diet Bet: It’s better to exercise and eat a moderate diet to lose body fat, inches and weight and keep it off. The HCG challenger regained weight loss quickly while the exerciser lost weight and inches and kept it off!
