Casey Anthony, who is in an Orange County, Florida jail on charges that she murdered her little girl, Caylee Anthony, is facing trial in 2011. It seems like it has been a long time coming and with more delays always a possibility.
In the meantime, the mail continues to flow and Casey gets her fair share of it. It always fascinates me that ‘normal’ people fall in love with prisoners, so it’s comes as no surprise that Casey is getting wedding proposals. That’s not all, she also gets initiations to travel, which I would assume come with refundable tickets. Obviously, the ‘fan’ letters are from people who believe that she is not being treated fairly, because they don’t think she killed that adorable little girl.
One strange fellow from New Jersey said he wasn’t sure he wrote to her because he thought she was innocent or because he thought she was hot. She also gets her share of hate mail. Another letter states that the sender was now in favor of the death penalty because of Casey’s actions. It is not known if Casey has read any of the letters or not. These are the first letters to go public since she has been in jail, which is almost two years now. There was no word on Friday from Casey’s defense team regarding these documents.
Over five thousand pieces of evidence, including the ‘fan’ mail as well as mail from her parents have been released by the Orange-Osceola State Attorney Office. Mail room staff at the jail open each piece of correspondence that enters their facility. They mostly look for contraband or the possibility of incriminating evidence.
There are reports included which contain interviews with Casey’s former boyfriends, her former roommate, as well as others closer to the family. In one letter from her father, George Anthony, he asked Casey why she was destroying the family. Also released are interviews where it was stated that many of Casey’s friends questioned her as to where Caylee was because they had not seen her. Casey always had a flip or quick response indicating that Caylee was at the beach or at Disney. Don’t forget, she was busy partying and having a good time while Caylee was missing.
She has also received her share of marriage proposals as well as money orders. My personal favorite, a man in Georgia sent her a “get out of jail free” card from a Monopoly game. ‘Normal’ people know that Monopoly is only a game and you can’t use the money or the “get out of jail free” card in real life.
