Some mornings, it seems time flies by so quickly that I barely have time to blink. After the baby is fed, the dishes done, and the laundry in the washer, there is hardly any time left for myself. Sometimes, I only have, literally, one minute to do my makeup. If you find yourself in the same boat as me, having only one minute to dedicate to doing your makeup, try giving yourself this one minute makeover. You’ll be glad you did!
Step 1 (25 seconds): Apply a tinted moisturizer. You don’t need to do anything fancy here, just apply a small amount of tinted moisturizer to your face and gently rub it in until blended. Using a tinted moisturizer will protect your skin from the sun, since most of these products contain sunscreen (you may need to check though.) Also, using a tinted moisturizer allows you to give your skin a drink of moisture all day long, since this product uses moisturizer as its base. Tip: you can make your own tinted moisturizer by simply blending together some face cream and liquid foundation.
Step 2 (15 seconds): Apply mascara.
Mascara is a must in every makeup application, since it truly showcases your eyes. Because you are short on time, apply the mascara to your upper lashes only; this will give your eyes a wide awake look. Tip: if you can spare the extra seconds, use the mascara wand as an eyebrow brush and filler. After you have finished applying the mascara to your first eye, and before putting the wand back into the tube, use the wand to lightly brush a hint of color onto your eyebrows. This will fill in any sparse areas. Follow the same directions on the other side.
Step 3 (15 seconds): Apply blush.
Blush will give your skin a youthful, glowing appearance. I use a loose powder blush that comes in a sponge applicator container. I simply pull off the lid, and brush the sponge across the apples of my cheeks. That’s all I need to do. Applying blush will take you a bit more time if you are using the traditional pressed powder and brush applicator, so keep this in mind when considering your one minute makeup time allotment. Tip: The new, gel based blushes are great for speedy application. Give these a try if you find them.
Step 4 (5 seconds): Apply lip gloss.
Choose one that is only lightly tinted, so that application is easy and mistake-free. Lip gloss, as opposed to lipstick, will not bleed into fine lines. It gives your lips a plump, healthy look. Simply apply a light layer to lips, and you’re done! Tip: If you have a bit more time to spare, try dotting some lip gloss along your cheekbones. This will draw attention to and highlight the area.
One suggestion I will offer, is to line up all of your products in order next to your mirror where you will be applying your makeup. This enables you to grab them faster, so you can apply your makeup in record time!
