Hate is the New Love: 4 Ways to Love Our Enemy — Even Though They Don’t Love Us!

by itchyfish

Ever had those moments when someone was rude to you for no reason? What about those moments when someone was rude to you all the time for no reason? How did that make you feel? For me, I have been hurt and angered by those people, but I always knew that feeling hurt and angry was not the way to handle the situation. I am guilty of not handling it right every time, but here are some basic principles to follow, so you and I can deal with these “haters” the right way.

1. Overcome them with kindness. I know people always say this, but I’ve found that in many situations, it does work. Jealous people are not looking for a fight-they are looking for attention. They want to feel as good as they think you feel. The best way to handle that is to greet them with a smile, and compliment them time to time. I’ve tried this numerous times, and it works.

2. Try not to say mean things about them. This is a hard one. It may seem impossible not to say something mean about those who are mean to you, but it can be done. Just understand that they have issues that have nothing to do with you. They may take it out on you, but it’s not about you.

3. Forgive them for their disrespect. This traces back to our last point. IT’S NOT ABOUT YOU. Rather you fight with them or not, they will have these issues until they decide to change. Even if you treat them with kindness, it may change the way they treat you as an individual, but they will still have issues with other people. Jealous people are needy and insecure. They need everyone to shower them with love and attention– and that’s just not going to happen.

4. Pray for them. If they are giving you that much hell, pray it away. Pray that God brings them out of that spirit of hate and jealousy. Even if they aren’t bothering you so much, pray for them anyway. They need the kind of help that humans can’t provide. Only God can rid them of that kind of hate.

Sounds good? I got all these points from the good ol’ Bible. It’s a pretty handy book. You should read it sometimes : ).
