With Halloween just around the corner, it’s time to start thinking of that perfect Halloween costume that will get everyone talking. And if you’re a reality TV fan, the Halloween costume possibilities are endless, especially if you think back to the biggest reality TV stars of 2010. Here are the top reality TV Halloween costume ideas for 2010 — and beyond.
Crystal Bowersox (American Idol 9). The American Idol Season 9 runner up had a look all her own. To create your own Crystal costume, you’ll need to do your hair in dreadlocks (a wig works if you have short hair). Don’t forget the hippie chick skirt, jewelry such as big hoop earrings and natural stone necklaces, and the weathered guitar around your neck. Bowersox also has a labret piercing under her lip, so if your face is piercing-free, try a faux gem. The only other question is- will you be Crystal pre or post- dental work? (she recently unveiled her new, million dollar smile).
Bret Michaels (Rock of Love, Celebrity Apprentice). The Poison front man/Rock of Love reality star was in the news a lot this year- and not just for his new album or winning turn on NBC’s Celebrity Apprentice. Michaels had some medical problems, but you can skip the hospital gown and instead pay tribute to him the way you know him best: as a bandana-wearing rock star. Michaels’ trademark look includes a bandana- often with a cowboy hat over top, long blonde hair, jeans and a rock and roll t-shirt. Surely you have these items in your closet already!
Jake Pavelka and Vienna Girardi (The Bachelor: On the Wings of Love, Dancing With the Stars). Looking for a good couples Halloween costume idea? The now defunct Bachelor: On the Wings of Love couple may have split up for good, but that doesn’t mean you can’t have some fun with them. This Halloween, a straight-laced Jake costume can include an airline pilot outfit- and make sure your “Jake” has a red rose in tow. Vienna’s look can include long hair blonde extensions, a bikini or some sort of skimpy outfit, large breasts (stuff ’em if needed) and a big princess cut engagement ring (fake, of course).
Jon and Kate Gosselin (Jon and Kate Plus 8, Dancing With the Stars). I know, I know. Jon and Kate were soooo last year. But even though the show that made them famous is no more, they still are (like it or not). 2010 was a big year for Kate, who traded in her triple decker strollers for some dancing shoes for ABC’s Dancing With the Stars. The new and improved (?) Kate costume could feature her new ‘do- no more reverse mullet, she now sports blonde extensions. You’ll also need a fake tan and a glittery ball gown and dance shoes. As for Jon, his look is easy to emulate: an Ed Hardy t-shirt, black sunglasses, stud earrings in both ears (you can buy fake, stick-on ones), hair gel and a belly that looks like he’s the one carrying sextuplets!
Snooki and Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino (Jersey Shore). You don’t have to watch MTV’s Jersey Shore to know who this duo is. To be Snooki you’ll need long, jet black hair that is teased on the top (to make it easier, you can use a Bump It to poof the top of your hair up, although Snooki revealed on the Jay Leno Show that she does not use one). Add a ton of hairspray, a major fake tan or bronzer, dark, heavy eye makeup, pale lipstick, huge hoop earrings, a skimpy black dress or bathing suit and voila- you’re Snooki! To be Mike “The Situation” you’ll need big muscles. If you’re not as buff as “The Situation” is, sport a fake muscle chest and arms costume (available at any Halloween costume shop). Add a black tank top, a fat gold chain around your neck and a printed board shorts. Don’t forget the hair gel and the tan!
