The Frank, Eleni, and Julie storyline began a few months after the Coopers let Julie move in with them. Julie Camaletti was Mallet’s little sister who was jilted by the Lewis family. At Julie and Dylan Lewis’s wedding, Bridget Reardon ratted Julie out for sleeping with Hart Jessup the day before the wedding. Dylan became enraged when he realized that Bridget was telling the truth. Dylan yelled that the wedding was off as he dragged a crying Julie out of the church.
Frank and Eleni felt sorry for Julie. After all, she was young and made a mistake. So, the Coopers gave her a place to stay after Mallet left town with his wife Harley Cooper. Julie was a great help around the house. She also took care of the Coopers baby daughter, Marina. However, Julie developed a crush on Frank Cooper that quickly turned into an obsession. Frank began to pick up on Julie’s feelings, for instance, one time Julie came out in a see through nightgown on the porch. How often does a man fight off a young girl’s crush? Frank kept quiet about Julie’s actions and the way she looked at him. However, Julie’s actions were creepy and transparent to Buzz Cooper, Frank’s father. Buzz confronted her and referred to Julie as “the hand that rocks the cradle.” Eleni sensed that Julie was coming between her and Frank, but didn’t know why and in what way. However, Eleni’s intuition was so strong that it compelled her to fire Julie and kick her out of the house after an argument with her. Frank was not happy and told Eleni she was being unfair. To keep her husband happy, Eleni made up with Julie and re-hired her to take care of Marina. Julie was happy to get her job back, but still had a crush on Frank. Unfortunately, Eleni got too busy with her new catering business to keep an eye on Julie.
After her catering business gained momentum, Eleni became Businesswoman of the Year in Springfield. Frank acted like he was happy for her, but deep down his male pride was hurt. Who wants to be known as Mr. Businesswoman of the Year? Frank and Eleni constantly argued until it all came to a head one night at WSPR. Gilly Grant interviewed Eleni about winning the Businesswoman of the Year award. Eleni broke down in tears when she told Gilly that her success did not happen by her hand alone. She credited Frank, Buzz, and the rest of the Cooper family for her success. Without their support she wouldn’t have a successful business. Once Eleni finished the interview she ran into the arms of Alan-Michael Spaulding to be consoled. When Frank showed up at WSPR to watch the interview in person, he saw Eleni in Alan-Michael’s arms and misunderstood. Frank and Eleni screamed and yelled at each other in a studio full of people. Once Eleni dashed out of the studio, Gilly ran to Frank with a tape of Eleni’s interview. “Frank, you should really take a look at this,” Gilly said and handed him the tape. Frank took the tape from Gilly and smashed it against the doorframe. Guess he wasn’t interested.
An angry and depressed Frank went home where an infatuated and conniving Julie waited for him. Frank said that Eleni wasn’t coming home and went upstairs. Julie took this opportunity to stripe down to her birthday suit and slithered into Frank’s bed. At first Frank thought it was Eleni, but when he opened his eyes and realized it was Julie who was kissing him, Frank freaked out. Frank apologized for giving Julie the wrong impression and demanded that she leave his room. When he opened the bedroom door to let a naked Julie out, Eleni appeared in the doorway. All heck broke loose which resulted with Eleni slapping Julie and Frank in the face. Frank desperately tried to explain to Eleni that nothing happened and he had not been having an affair with Julie.
Almost a month went by before Frank enlisted the help of his in-laws. They trapped Eleni in the kitchen with Frank so she couldn’t run away from his explanations. Frank told her that he was not cheating on her and said that Julie climbed in their bed on her own. He also told Eleni about Julie’s behavior behind her back, for example the drawer in Julie’s room that was filled with his things and the see through nightgown on the porch. In the end, Eleni believed that Frank never slept with Julie, but all was not well. Eleni still felt that Frank betrayed her. “How can you say nothing happened? So much has happened that my head is swimming,” By the time Eleni finished lighting into Frank about keeping secrets from her and liking the attention that Julie gave him, Frank’s image was tarnished. He was a dirty old man with an ego complex who denies his wife the right to have ambitions outside of the home. Dang Eleni! She still wanted a separation.
After Frank took a good look at himself in the mirror, he started scheming with his father, Buzz, to get Eleni back. In the end, Eleni’s resolve melted and she took Frank back. Once again a happily married couple, they renewed their vows in a small and romantic ceremony in Springfield Park. Julie Camaletti lived at the Reardon Boarding House before being run out of town by other Springfield residents she caused trouble for.
