I never thought that I could spend hours upon hours in a grocery store. Nor did I think that a grocery store could offer so many unique ventures that could keep me occupied for hours. After my four hour visit, (yes, I said four hours), to Giant Eagle Market District, in Robinson PA, I am now convinced that a grocery store is much more than a boring place that constantly drains the wallet. Don’t get me wrong, you will spend money at the Market District, but with less guilt and extreme satisfaction. The Market District has so much to offer and serves as a one stop shop with it’s large selection of attractions.
What Market District has to offer
The Market District still has the run of the mill grocery store located off to the side. It is Giant Eagle, so it only makes sense that they have to keep the grocery store to keep up with that household reputable name. Many things, however, have been modified. When you walk into the produce section, it is like the Green God is shining down on you. The produce section, alone, has to be ten times larger than what Giant Eagle customers are accustomed to. There are veggie and fruit bars everywhere, local produce at every corner, organic foods galore, and even a greenhouse with fresh plants and produce. Yes, you read correctly, a green house in the middle of the produce section. I never though I could fall in love with a head of lettuce, but at Market District’s produce section, anything is possible.
After you hit up the produce, you can’t help but to catch a whiff or two of various types of foods, not grocery items, but actual food. Possibly it could be one of the various samples being served up around the store, but most likely the smell is lingering from one of the mini restaurants. There are several bistro and food outlets where you can can get a four course meal or various ethnic dish prepared for you by professional chefs. Whether it is an Asian dish you crave, gourmet pasta or chicken, or good old fashioned American plates, the Market District has it. There are actual flat screen TV’s above all of the cooks so that you can see them preparing your food, step by step. Talk about dinner and entertainment rolled into one!
If you still are not satisfied with the Market District, you will be, when you visit their fresh bread and bakery shop, gourmet chocolate sections, or mini gift stores. The whole place, in general, gives you the feel of being in an actual outdoor marketplace, minus the “outdoor” factor. When I said you can spend four hours in this lovely store, I wasn’t pulling your leg.
All in all, if you are bored with your same old shopping experience, looking to add fresh and unique foods to your grocery list, or even looking to pick up a great ethnic meal or two, Market District has it all. Once you visit one of Market District’s locations, it is hard to visit a regular grocery store again.
