An upset stomach can disrupt entire day. The sheer stress of having to push back or cancel meeting with friends can make matters even worse. Unfortunately our lives do not go into standstill mode just because our stomach acts up. So we need to be on the fast track to dealing and getting back into the game. One of these great home remedies is just the cure for dissolving your tummy woes.
Watch your diet
Things like fried food can really upset the stomach. But you might be surprised to find out that something else is causing those tummy aches and pains. By simply keeping a journal of your food intake you might be able to narrow down your culprit. Write down everything you eat and drink. You can also start watching your fat intake and kipping on pepper.
Cut down on caffeine
Yep this means your cup of Joe could be a problem. Try cutting down on your caffeine to see if your body responds.
Peppermint is great at soothing an upset stomach. Carry around peppermint candies with you, they are great for those on the go. My Grandpa has been using these for years to help his stomach when his Tums is not available.
Ginger helps aid digestion. So everything from ginger tea to ginger cookies will help. My personal favorite is ginger ale. Anytime my stomach seems like it is acting up I pour a glass. The Ginger People Website has a great variety of ginger candy.
Stress causes a variety of problem, an upset stomach being one of them . Try managing the stress in your life and see if that makes a difference.
Hot water bottle
I use an empty 2 litter coke bottle. Fill it with hot water and it works wonders. If you have the time to lay down for a bit just lay the bottle on your stomach and try to relax.
Use 1/2 teaspoon baking soda and 3/4 glass of water. This is not a favorite of mine but I have a friend that swears by it. Give it a half an hour to notice a significant difference.
Cinnamon helps stimulate the digestive system. Try a warm cup of cinnamon tea.
Saltine crackers are a big hit in our house. Gentle on the stomach, something everyone has on hand, and helps absorb anything in your stomach that might be causing this issue.
Water keeps the body running. Be sure to fuel it up with drinking plenty of water everyday.
Check your medications
Try talking to your doctor if the problem persists. It could be one of your medications causing the trouble
