Some thoughts from last night’s episode:
As I predicted last week, Daniel was sent home. Not much of a surprise there considering he is significantly behind the others when it comes to the investigative stuff. He got kicked off mostly because he turned off his recorder for some unexplained reason. But, he also wasn’t a person who really just faded to the background and didn’t contribute much.
I knew Rosalyn was less likely to get kicked off this week, mostly because she did so well last week. But, her decision not to investigate the cigar smoke Steve and Tango blew into the building as a test really made no sense. The cadets obviously know they are going to be tested from time to time. So, even if she didn’t think the smoke was paranormal, you think she would at least go through the motions.
Oh, and I agree with Michelle (who claims to have seen a shadow of a man); Rosalyn should have asked Steve and Tango for more time when they told her to move her group to another area before they had a chance to either look for the shadow Michelle saw or debunk it.
I honestly thought Vera was either getting the jitters or just flat out lying when she said she heard someone call her name. Good thing she caught some evidence of that or I would still have my doubts.
Speaking of evidence, Adam (who I still think looks like Topher Grace) seemed awfully ticked off when Eric dismissed the swinging door and pointed out all the flaws in the evidence. For the record, I agree with Eric (and Jason Hawes) on that one; and not just for the reasons he mentioned. The first thing I noticed when I saw that piece was how the camera conveniently focused on that door at just the right moment with no apparent reason why it would be pointed in that direction in the first place. It would be more believable evidence (at least for the skeptic in me), if the camera had been pointed at something else and the door was in the background.
That being said, I will say I am impressed with this group of cadets when it comes to debunking evidence; especially how they tracked down an electrical device when they picked up a phantom EMF.
I think the strongest cadets in this class so far are Adam and Eric and Michelle.
If I had to take a guess at who will be eliminated next week, I think I would pick Brett; unless someone else has a very bad day. He isn’t a terrible investigator. But, much like Daniel, he also doesn’t really stand out and I think that’s going to hurt him when he’s paired with stronger cadets.
