Zoo’s can be a great educational experience and a lot of fun. They are usually fairly cheap if you plan out your trip ahead of time. It doesn’t matter your age, race or gender because everyone loves a good trip to the zoo. The next time you have nothing to do, pack a cooler with drinks and food, load the kids up in the mini van and head to your favorite zoo or maybe take this time to check out a brand new zoo you didn’t know about.

Detroit zoo is one of the most popular zoos located in Michigan. They have other things besides just their animals. You will find a Giraffe feeding encounter, Tauber family railroad and a wild adventure 4D Theater. The Detroit Zoo has 4 different concession facilities and tons of snack carts scattered about the zoo. They have a large gift shop located at the front of the zoo and another large one located towards the back of the zoo. You will also see Gift carts scattered throughout the zoo as well. The zoo also has different events going on where you can see animal’s demonstrations, zoo shows and more so check their calendar of events to find out more.
Binder Park Zoo

Binder Park zoo is another great zoo located in Michigan. They are known for their Species Survival Plans (SSPs). The SSPs program works with other zoo’s to help save vulnerable species. This means when you come to this zoo, you will see animals that are not at your typical everyday zoo. They have a large variety of animals. Some of the SSP animals here are Cheetahs, Cotton-topped tamarin, Black and white colobus monkeys, black mangabeys, Aldabra tortoises and the Trumpeter swans. Along with the animals you can take a tram ride to Wild Africa or jump on the Z.O & O. Railroad around the park. They also have a feed the giraffes encounter and a carousel for the younger ones. Two large gift shops are located at the zoo exit and in Wild Africa. You will also find two different restaurants located throughout the zoo. You will find zoo gift and food carts scattered about the zoo as well.
Potter Park Zoo

This zoo is a great zoo that has over 450 animals. They are on 58 acres on land, so the animals can all have great habitats. This park is more known for their special exhibits they have. Wings from Down Under have over 400 birds located inside. These birds fly around in their habitat. You can even purchase a seed bar and feed these birds yourself because they all love people. They have a small petting farm on site where you pet different animals. You will see goats, pigs, reindeer and more in here. They have many other exhibits as well. While your there take a pony or camel ride for small fees. They have many restaurants around the zoo and plenty of places to buy a souvenir.
