While getting children to eat can be tough, there are still different kinds of food and snacks children love. But did you know that you can take a regular piece of food and turn it into fun on your little one’s plate? It’s creative, fun, and may help to get children to eat when they may be giving you trouble.
Here is a menu of fun food ideas for every meal of the day.
Smiley Face Breakfast.
Cook two eggs over easy and cook bacon. When you are done, put the two over easy eggs on the plate next to each other, arranged as if they were two eyes. Then, take the bacon and arrange it in a small curve below the eggs, making it look like a smiley face. You can put a small piece of fruit in the middle (such as a grape) to act as the nose, but that is optional.
If your child does not like eggs or bacon, you can always make pancakes or a bowl of oatmeal. Add delicious fruit and arrange them as a smiley face, with eyes, a nose, and a mouth.
Whichever meal you choose to make, your child will be greeted in the morning by a smiling breakfast!
Animal Shaped Sandwiches For Lunch.
I have actually seen my sister make this for her children a lot. Make your child a sandwich of choice. It can be ham, cheese, bologna, peanut butter and jelly, or whatever they desire for lunch. Then, take animal shaped cookie cutters. Press the cookie cutters down on the sandwich and remove the outer pieces (use a knife or fork to help remove the pieces if need be). When you are done, your little one’s sandwich is now in the shape of their favorite animal! Use other shaped cookie cutters if need be. Your child (or you if you would like) can still eat the outer pieces, of course.
Octopus Hot Dogs For Dinner.
This can turn dinner into a fun under water meal! Take a regular hot dog and make it look like an octopus! For this, you will need hot dogs (of course), a sharp boning knife, and a microwave (or however you plan to actually cook it). Take the sharp boning knife and cut the hot dog in half lengthwise and down the middle. Do not cut it all the way in half, leave about 2 inches uncut. Then, roll the hot dog 90 degrees and repeat these same steps again. You should now have four legs. Cut each leg in half carefully, but leave them connected. You should now have eight legs,
just like an octopus. Place the hot dogs on a microwave safe plate and cook them in the microwave on high (this may vary per microwave) for about 40 seconds. There you go, Octopus hot dogs for dinner!
Bunny Cupcakes For Dessert.
Bunny cupcakes for dessert are not only delicious, but they are cute and fun! You can either make cupcakes or buy them at the school. Then, use licorice or Twizzlers. You will need two of them per cupcake. Put each end in the cupcake, close together, in a curve. Two of these in a cupcake will look like bunny ears. Then, you can use candy to arrange as the eyes, nose, and mouth on the cupcake. Candy you can use for the face include jelly beans, M&Ms, Skittles, sprinkles, etc. Anything small, good for small children, and can easily be arranged into a face. Once you are done, you will have bunny cupcakes for dessert!
There you go. A fun food idea to serve which each meal of the day! Great for birthdays, holidays, or just every day fun! Enjoy all of this delicious food!
I did have some help with the octopus hot dogs, and credit would go to this site: http://homecooking.about.com/od/beef/ss/hdoctopussbs.htm
