As the end of summer 2010 approaches, there are still plenty of new opportunities for fun that are perfect for fall weather. The Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire is held on the grounds of the Mount Hope Estate and Winery, and is open each weekend – Saturday and Sunday from 11:00 am until 8:00 pm – beginning on August 14, 2010 and runs until its closing weekend on October 31, 2010. Additionally, the Faire is also open on “Labor Day Monday,” September 6, 2010.
The address is 2775 Lebanon Road Mount Hope Estate & Winery, Manheim, PA 17545-8711, and directions can be accessed on their general information page.
This is a rare occasion to learn about history by seeing it first-hand, and these folks have done their research and provide a fantastic idea of life in that period in a large scale venue. Theme weekends, games for children, delicious food, incredible costumes and theatrical live performances are just of the few of the many offerings of the “PA RenFaire.” There are also plenty of exciting choices of wine and ale.
Tickets vary in price, ranging from $24.95 for one adult’s admission for a single day, or $9.95 for a single child’s admission for one day. A season pass, which includes admission for 25 days, special coupons, and the opportunity to meet some of the performers, is $100.00 per adult, and $45.00 per child.
Rides and games are an additional $1.00 to $3.00. Tickets can be purchased online at the Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire website http://www.parenfaire.com/buytickets.html, or by purchasing tickets at the door. Burger King and Hess locations are among several vendors offering discount tickets to the Faire. Parking is free. “Nickelodeon Parents Connect” website advises that it is best to order tickets online in advance if possible, because long lines can be sometimes cause a delay in getting inside the faire grounds. Don’t forget, although it’s not mandatory, it’s always fun to attend in costume!
